Who is the TOP wrench on TV?

I have to go with Ed from Wheeler Dealers.... the guy is fearless and amazing.

Will trade my 20 years of institutional derivatives trading experience for mechanical and body experience here.

None... it is reality TV... they are all actors, I doubt if any of those guys could change a tire.

Someone on that show does a lot of research on the cars they get.

How about that classic car whisperer that works for Wayne Carrini on Chasing Classic Cars. He was licking his chops to re assemble a four cam porsche engine on one show.

Don't recall his name, but he seems to be able to revive about anything that Wayne brings in there.

Ed has it for sure!

Cheers Richard

I would say there are 2 classes of top wrench. 1st would be Diy skills. There I would go with James May...

2nd is real Mechanical - i agree, ed from wheeler dealers. And i read a comment that someone does serious research on the cars featured.

A mechanic who does not research the cars they work on is either a god, or a fool.

Edd - (not Ed).............Or Roger for Chasing Classic cars............Edd does anything and everything. Uses his tool box for an engine stand when he has to.

None of those goons from Boyd Coddington, OCC, Jesse James, or any of the low-rent "Flipper" shows..... Most of the goons come from the "Get a Bigger Hammer" school.

I have to go with McGyver there. Speed left the serious wrenching to Pops

I would agree with Ed China, but even he takes the easy road fairly often. I've never seen him repair or rebuild a tranny, he buys a rebuilt or used one. Or maybe he's just a lot smarter than me.

Roger on Chasing Classic Cars is a bit of a mystery. Someone else on that show never likes to share the camera.....

And the two idiots on Classic Car Rescue are complete morons. They are the second worst.

The imbeciles out in the dessert are both creepy and stupid. What would possess someone to buy a car they had rebuilt is beyond me. They are the bottom of the TV rebuilding heap.

I would agree he pays pro's, but I think you're kidding yourself if you think he doesn't know how to get in there and do 99% of it himself. His problem is he just has too many cars to be the only mechanic for all of them.
