What was the metal(?) fragment thing in the desert sand at the episode opening?

I think that was a glass shard he used to stab the guy before, well… trying to not spoil anything for people.

ramonesfreak 04-27-2022 05:19 AM

correct. and maybe used to cut the zip ties

I never understood that car roll over from the opening scene in last seasons Ozark. kept waiting for something to happen throughout the season but nothing did

You have any insight into that?

yeah he found it in the trailer when they left him alone, and grabbed it then... I love this show, it's rare TV takes time to flesh out stories, mood, character, and be this compelling...

The big Q for me is Kim, she didn't feature in breaking bad, so I fear what may happen to her. My total guess is their shenanigans to take Howard down somehow backfire and she loses her law license, which drives her away...

i think that was them getting away and that was it. remember they were getting out of the Ozarks back to Chicago? the car crash was what ended up killing them, or not. you know how they like to leave questions in the final episode of show finales. that's my take anyway.

My mom & sister watch too and they did not pick up on the little whicker think falling from the moving truck into the gutter in the opening scene of this season. I only remember it cause i watched the last three episodes of last season before this season started. a point was made of Kim returning to her desk and grabbing that thing when she quit and was leaving the office last season.

great call on the piece of glass with the rain falling on it in this last episode open. I did not put that together.

Did you guys that watched Ozark notice the drawing at the open of the show with four images in it? it was images of clues to events in the upcoming episode. When I figured that out i'd always pause it and look closely at it.

That thing was the bottle stopper for the Zafiro anejo tequila she ordered when they scammed (Kim's first scam with Jimmy) the stock market broker in the bar/grill.

I think Mike added an envelope, though I'm not certain about it. This was the envelope with the bank statement in it. I'm guessing that the safe was swapped so that if there was anything Mike didn't want the other guys to see that was in it, he could deal with it in advance. And Mike being Mike, when he saw Nacho's dad's ID in it he took that out, too.

Since his clean cop son was killed, Mike has appointed himself as the sheepdog between criminals and innocents unknowingly associated with criminals. I think he is trying to redeem himself or win back some integrity with himself for being a corrupt cop.

The bank statement was a phoney they created showing payments from the Peruvians to throw them off the trail of the chicken man.

Rhea Seehorn was on Kimmel tonight. I rarely watch any of the late night talk shows anymore, but I tuned in around 15 minutes in after the monologue was over... she was the last guest before the B-52s.

I enjoyed her segment but was surprised that she came off kind of giggly and nothing like her thoughtful, restrained Kim. At first I thought she might've been nervous, but I think she was just being herself. Fun segment. It's worth watching if you're a fan...

Howard ????? Did not see that coming (and neither did Saul or Kim).

pavulon 05-24-2022 08:54 AM

Some analyses of this series are pretty remarkable. I like how so many omnipresent yet seemingly trivial things have been given life as well as the psychoanalysis of the characters.

It's a little reminiscent of Ozark in that regard. Ouch !

CurtEgerer 05-24-2022 06:25 PM

Well, what are the options for Kim? A) she dies (most likely), B) she kills Lalo and goes into hiding to escape the cartel, C) ??

It's tricky for the writers because there is never any reference in BB that I recall that Saul lost a wife or had even been married.

pavulon 05-25-2022 01:59 AM

Mike will show up and all hell will break loose. Lalo seems destined to die. Kim too or best case scenario disappears into hiding. Ymmv.

Just watched it last night and I didn't see it coming either.
But I should have based on earlier episodes.

I hate having to watch this week to week rather than binge it.
But it is too good to wait.

A reminder that the second half of the season starts back up tonight.....

pavulon 07-11-2022 10:04 AM

Predictions? No harm in getting them wrong.

1. Lalo doesn't survive tonight.
2. Mike or a heretofore obscure/unknown/surprise takes him out.
3. Pinkman shows up.

Lalo was mentioned in Breaking Bad, which takes place several years later, I think he is alive.

Both Jessie and Walter are in the last 6 episodes. But they are not working together. I expect Jessie is in for some juvenile issue. Not sure how Walter mixes in, since he is not supposed to know about Saul in Breaking Bad.

CurtEgerer 07-11-2022 10:35 AM

Thanks for the reminder! Would've missed it otherwise.

Ooh, thanks for mentioning that! I thought I had to wait until August.

MikeSid 07-11-2022 02:23 PM

I think Kim gets afraid of Lalo and decides to disappear. They use that Robert Forester character that owned the vacuum store in BB to get new identities. For one reason or another, Jimmy doesn't go along. Maybe to make Kim's disappearance easier. Maybe he just started doing too well with his law career resurgence. But I don't think they kill off Kim -that's too tricky to write in a way that would be palatable to a majority of the audience. I think she voluntarily disappears. It's got to be her decision.
I still have the last two episode of the first half of season 6 to watch, so I might be off base and for all I know she's dead.

Could somebody give me an idea of exactly what transpired in "The Great Gus vs. Lalo Shootout in the Dark?"

If all you know is the results, I've got that. I'd like to know the blow by blow. I was watching in a dark room 3 feet from a 40" Samsung perfectly adjusted for contrast, etc.

While the Chicken Man was buying time with his rant against Eladio and the Salamacas.....the camera briefing showed a gun stashed above the tracks of that excavator - one that Gustavo had stashed there in an earlier episode. The camera also showed an electric cord connection on the ground not far from where Gus was standing.

What happened next was indeed so fast it was hard to actually see what happened, I agree. Apparently, the Chicken Man kicked the cord connector and the lights went out all while lunging at the gun he had stashed. He then fired said gun in the direction of Lalo and looked like one round caught him in the neck.

All I could think about was how much opportunity Lalo had to blown Fring's head off and didn't because (in the words of Tuco) "When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk."

:D

Kinda funny - I was posting a rant about more and more "shot in darkness" scenes in series that I cannot see... I had the same reaction as you, in fact I thought LAlo had fallen in a ditch. I had to replay this scene a couple times (and I still did not see the stashed gun). Oh well, not a surprise anyway since we all knew chicken man was gonna live. That leaves Kim !

CurtEgerer 07-12-2022 09:58 AM

So we've now got 2 bodies buried below the lab floor. Will there be more? Will Kim wind up under the floor slab? Great episode last night.

pavulon 07-13-2022 02:01 AM

If Kim dies, that will be pretty dissatisfying. If Kim contributes to Jimmy getting “made” in Omaha, that could lead to a fitting final crater for the show.

MBAtarga 07-13-2022 07:12 AM

So do you think that Jimmy actually expected Kim to follow Lalo's orders? I was thinking he was just trying to get her out of the condo - sacrificing himself to be killed by Lalo.
