Tell me about it. When people ask how it was growing up in a 2nd generation German family I tell them this story.

A German family is having dinner when the 5 year old boy throws down his spoon and says, “Damnit Mom, this soup is too hot!”
The family is astounded. These are the first words the kid has ever spoken.
“Son, you can speak! In 5 years you haven’t spoken a word!”
The son says, “Of course not. Up until now everything has been satisfactory. “
I admit, the Slyker side of my family resembled the story more than the other German side, but still pretty revealing.

Never watched the show prior to binge watching the entire thing recently. I've been missing out.

It's (mostly) not BB levels of dark and the time shifting is entertaining. Jimmy is 10 miles wide, 2 inches deep and headed for the FWPP.

Baz 02-24-2020 03:35 AM

Not a bad start to the new season. You can already feel the tension building between Jimmy (Saul) and Kim. Look forward to Part II tonight.

pavulon 02-24-2020 05:58 AM

Kim is Jimmy with a slightly better moral compass. Nacho seems to be on borrowed time. The Cinnabon foreshadowing is interesting.

Deschodt 02-24-2020 11:23 AM

This (and B-bad) were there only shows I ever watched that can be that slow, with comparatively little happening, and yet still be super enjoyable. On the flip side I find it impossible to re-watch any of them... First time though, great stuff...

Spoiler below -

So whom and why is someone cutting the drugs - since the story that Gus provided we know is false?

Baz 02-24-2020 04:46 PM

I wonder how Gene is going to "deal" with the taxi driver?

biosurfer1 02-25-2020 05:56 AM

i'm surprised that Gus allowed the German's to go back home since they clearly know what happened to Verner.

I know they have shown (quite brilliantly) that dealing with dead bodies is a pain in the real world, let alone 7, so I'm sure that played into it but I would think Gus wouldn't like that many people running around who clearly know too much.

Also, I'm seeing some great run in's and confrontations involving Lalo in the future. What a great character.

(I haven't read through this thread to avoid spoilers)

So... Is Better Call Saul better than Breaking Bad?

I'm able to borrow the entire series on Bluray. (my brother's copy)
I tried but I could never really get into Breaking Bad... The lead character "Walter White" just annoyed me.

astrochex 04-16-2021 03:14 AM

Don’t know if its better, just a little different, imho.

I think its fascinating because of the links it provides to Breaking Bad. But on its own, its still a fascinating character study.

Season 6 starts tonight

Captain Ahab Jr 04-18-2022 01:41 PM

We've only got 6 episodes of season 5 to go

It's our 2nd time of watching the full run of the show

Really looking forward to Season 6

CurtEgerer 04-18-2022 03:35 PM

Don't have AMC. Anyone know when S6 will be out on Netflix??

ramonesfreak 04-18-2022 04:03 PM

My guess would be sometime 2023

pavulon 04-18-2022 07:12 PM

One less Cayenne TT in the world.

Baz 04-19-2022 02:02 AM

Didn't realize it would be 2 1/2 hours so a lot going on in this first episode.

That opening scene must be a glimpse into the future - a tease really - just like the Cinnabon scenes we've seen.

I really enjoyed it and best of all was seeing Kim Wexler again! :)

Not sure if this will help, Curt........

How to watch 'Better Call Saul' season 6

You can watch "Better Call Saul" season six on the AMC cable channel and AMC Plus streaming service. The first two episodes premiere on April 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT and new episodes will be released every Monday through May 23.

After the first seven episodes air, the series will go off the air for a few weeks. The remaining half of the show's final season will premiere on July 11. The last six episodes will each debut every following Monday, with the series finale set to air on August 15.

The AMC network is available through most cable and satellite providers, as well as several live TV
streaming
services, including YoutubeTV, Sling, and Fubo. The cheapest option of the bunch is Sling TV, which starts at $35 a month. New Sling members can currently get 50% off their first month.

We know what Saul chooses to do in the last season of BB so I’m guessing that’s what become of his house after he leaves

CurtEgerer 04-19-2022 04:21 AM

Jeez, I may have to sign up for AMC streaming. I can't wait until next year!

Otter74 04-19-2022 08:30 AM

Ooh, I was so excited when I read at lunch on Monday that it was out. I don't have AMC either but I was somehow able to watch it on AMC online anyway, putting up with annoying three and a half minute ad blocks. My cousin sent me torrents of the first two episodes, so I'll watch E2 on Wednesday ad-free.

And what's this about two and a half hours??

ramonesfreak 04-19-2022 08:53 AM

the debut episode of season 6 was 2.5 hours

red-beard 04-19-2022 08:55 AM

All I can say is...

More Saul, less drug cartel

I should have stated it was TWO episodes back-to-back last night - hence the 2 1/2 hours.

I have trouble staying awake sometimes on these late night gigs.....

pavulon 04-19-2022 01:58 PM

Hope to see the two shyster skaters pop up again.

Yaaaaaas. I love the character and the way Seehorn plays it.

pavulon 04-23-2022 06:24 PM

Rewatching from the beginning. LOTS of details bubbling up from the bottom already in the new season.

ramonesfreak 04-25-2022 05:08 PM

Why are they playing episode 2 instead of 3? Is anyone manning the projector wtf ?

ramonesfreak 04-25-2022 05:11 PM

Never mind. The menu on YouTubeTV had the wrong episode name and now it’s fixed. Weird

This is good. Now I can watch the jaguar show on pbs while waiting for Epi 3

Baz 04-25-2022 06:57 PM

Heavy episode tonight......

ramonesfreak 04-25-2022 07:28 PM

Good one

My cable provider played episode 2 at 9. I went back half hour later and episode 3 was on so I had to wait until the 10pm broadcast. Never seen that happen before

Yeah, I have missed a lot and decided to tune in tonight.

Unfortunately got the answer to a question that has plagued the internet for years.

Was not happy to see that.

ramonesfreak 04-26-2022 10:05 AM

what question has plagued the internet?

was sorry to see that character go. he went out in grand style though to save his pops. Mike is still my fav on the show.

Wanna see the tinsel brothers get their comeuppance, happy to see another old character (Huell) resurface and Kim's had enough but late to have found religion.

I really enjoyed the dynamic between Nacho and Mike.

It was interesting to watch them develop that mutual respect and trust.

i think she gets killed at the end. maybe something akin to a car roll over like Ozark, or something not involved with the plot what so ever. she was never in the breaking bad bad episodes and her being so much jimmy where was she?

yep. Mike saw how much Nacho wanted out to protect his pops and his loyalty to those that were loyal to him.

so what is the little finger trap wicker thing Kim took from her desk when she quit her job, then fell out of the moving truck in episode 1? it will be important i think.

also why was Nacho's safe swapped out? more to come on that? other than his pops' ID not going back in it seemed everything else did....
