Best Cycling Gun?

Time for a good, paranoid, histronic gun thread!

The mission: pick the best gun for roadie cycling.

Roadie cycling means wearing skin tight lycra jersey and padded shorts, riding an ultra light carbon fiber bike that you've obsessively stripped of every unneeded gram.

The scenario is, you are riding alone on a path through a wooded area, some sketchy men are standing on the path, as you ride by one pushes you hard and as you tumble to the ground, they all come for you. Oh, and maybe you're a woman.

What gun will you pack for this dire eventuality? We need absolutely minimum weight, corrosion resistance (rain, sweat), concealable in a jersey pocket (unless you have an alternative carrying solution).

This would fit under most cycling seats. Two shots but they'd stay down.

Gentlemen,

And I assume as Pelcanistas that we are all gentlemen?

Is it right and seemly that one has to fumble in one's Lycra for a firearm? There may be ladies present and while you gallantly seek to protect them from assailants unknown, the prospect of pulling the wrong weapon may prove embarrassing.

While previously pedalling in the old Garden State I preferred to discreetly sport a more traditional long gun. Perfect for short range work and elegant to boot.

Admittedly one would need to engage aforementioned assailant in conversation while assembling one's piece but the sight of such hardware may prove that prevention is better than terminal cure.

Likewise rather than pack a cold barking iron alongside one's sausage my alternative can be strapped to one's velocette in a range of tooled scabbards, holsters or violin cases.

Any crook worth his weight trying to assault a biker is going to shove a stick in their front spokes, causing them massive head trauma- now he has your bike, all your stuff and a nice gun.

Desert Eagle.

In seriousness I'd look at a Glock 42. A little over a pound loaded, .380ACP, would get you out of just about any bad situation.

Cold iron next to hot sausage...not good. I don't think I would want to take a tumble with a loaded gun aimed at my privates. Hows about a mac-10/uzi mounted on the handlebars to eliminate such confrontations ?

This looks interesting, Taurus Curve

First Look: Taurus Curve | Guns & Ammo
Taurus 180 Curve Pistol | .380 ACP 6+1 Rds Black Oxide With Laser and Light

10 oz (plus ammo weight), integral laser and light, .380, 7 (6 + 1) rd, DAO/striker, polymer frame. Supposedly prints like a cellphone. Sheath to cover trigger. Cheap enough that you could break out the drill press and do some drillium. Cons: Slide is not stainless. No second strike. No iron sights. Bore axis seems unnecessarily high.

Of course, gotta use Blazer ammo for the aluminum case (grams, ya know).

Incidentally, while this would require testing for reliability, I'm thinking that for water protection you could wrap the pistol in a single layer of the thinnest, flimsiest "Saran wrap". The theory is, you can stick your trigger finger through the wrap and fire, and the wrap wouldn't (???) interfere with cycling the action.

Either Keltec-P3AT or Ruger LCP in .380ACP. If I were buying today, it would be the LCP with the stainless steel slide.

The Keltec comes with a "rug", a zippered pouch. With the pistol in the case, a full standard magazine will fit under the grip. If pouch doesn't come with the pistol, it can be purchased separately.

Slip the pistol case into a ziplock back to further prevent sweat ingress into the pistol. Fits perfectly in a Jersey Pocket. Use situational awareness, since there really is no fast draw option.

BTW: Over 18,000 miles with this setup since 2007.

Heizer Ti looks good. As a cyclist, you had me at "titanium".

I like the makers engraving: ST. LOUIS MO. USA EARTH

Probably the best cycling gun as it has a high rate of fire and cycles out misfired ammo, but not the best gun for on a cycle because recoil thrust would be a bear.

Also, take a look at Bob O's "mousegun" comparison chart. LOTS of good info.
