Things you would like changed on the Forum

+1 on this. Fortunately the majority of folks on this forum behave like decent human beings. There are some and fortunately few that behave in a pathetic manner....

I like this board the way it is. People are civil and most of the discussion on here is lite and work safe.

I understand that the star rating system is part of the BBS software. I never notice it until someone else says something.

As far as PARF goes, it serves a purpose for people who like to discuss those particular subjects. Every now and then I go over there and look when someone references something here in OT. Everyone has opinions... Even on politics and religion. Wasn't here before the split, but most say page one was usually filled with PARF subjects. Having a sub-form for PARF was a good idea.

Don't like the idea of an OP having the power to delete a reply. That kind of power should only be with the mods. Don't like a response, complain to a moderator listed at the bottom of the screen. They usually take care of it in a timely fashion.

Leave PARF alone, it's like a dark mid-evil forest, you're never sure when and how you're going to get attacked, but it will happen. I choose to stay out of the woods.

I have never used or looked at the star rating system......don't really care.

If you want nudity, go to a different website.

I would say that when a person who is involved in a 2-way insult fest, then decides to report the other person for making an insult, give both parties a little vacation. It should be both, or neither. I'm fine with either option.

I once got a time a time out for REposting tits as an advisory. The mods missed it, I got canned and the original poster....nada.....

Allot of us were there, we know what happened.

That guy helped me and many others I know for free and never asked for anything in return. I am not aware of him screwing anyone.
I haven't seen him for years but still consider him a friend.

He started a forum for his friends to use one day when pelican's site was down. He put more and more time into it, and eventually it was pretty nice. He wasn't doing it to make money, he was just donig it so we all hang out on the interwebs without all the restrictions of another site.
Other's volunteered to help, and they did help. they probably did as much to keep the site up than the owner did, but they volunteered to do it because they liked the site.
Over the years it got bigger and more popular.

When he was in a tough financial time he looked into selling partial rights to the forum for advertising, the moderators STOLE the forum from him to prevent the sale.
They said IT'S MINE MINE MINE, and shut it down and locked him out. Then they created an exact duplicate on their server with all the same history and posts etc.
His so-called FRIENDS turned on him big time. A few of us stuck by him.
It's pretty clear to me who the criminals were.

auto-replace the word "rare" with "blah" in all forums, especially for sale items.

If it's truly rare we know it but the word is most used where it should not be.

Put a lid on how many cars per year one person can post on the "cars for sale section"

and / or

Have a seperate section for dealers listing cars.

Enforce the "price in the listing" rule on cars listed for sale, and if you post three or more in a year with no price you lose your privlidge to post others.

Enforce the "no daily or every couple days" bumping up of cars listed for sale. Make it once a week for 4 weeks thats all you get.

I would keep the post count. Many of the con artists get exposed when they show up as new posters and pose as an, "enthusiast" or "looking at a car at..." or "i had a great experience at xxx dealership I wanted to share". The post count helps you figure out these jobbers.

I have to say I am fairly active on the Ducati board and the Alfa board as well as Rennlist but I find this place to be the most active and the best. I wouldn't change much if anything. What I listed are mostly me just being a PITA because I cant stand the BS some dealers pull.


Oh yea... ban the word "perfect" or "flawless" on any car listed for sale, especially from a few of the dealers who use those words on real POS's. Might consider canning the phrase 100% original too, especially when the car is shown with later model wheels and cup holders tacked to the door cards.

Pretty well educated bunch of people here, and if your reputation sucks here, you've earned it.
