Nice truck but I'm scratching my head trying to figure the difference between this and what you had(?)

Denis, its all about torque. The Ecoboost makes 420 lb-ft at 2500 RPM, with 380 at 1700 RPM. The 5.0 makes 380 lb-ft at 4250 RPM. The 5.0 is a great motor, but feels like a Mustang as it has to rev when making power, especially when towing. The Ecoboost drives like a diesel, you just ride a wave of turbo torque. I'm also going from 3.55 gears on my old truck to 3.73 gears on my new one, and also got the awesome tow mirrors with power fold and extend, just like the F250. I am also going to install a Five Star tune, which is good for about 25 HP and 70 lb-ft of torque at the wheels on 87 octane per the dyno charts that I've seen. If you apply a 20% correction factor that puts it at 455 HP and 504 lb-ft at the engine, which isn't too shabby.

Help me out with this... I see people advertising 2-3 year old vehicles for more than you can get a new vehicle for. Is this just a sales tactic, where you accept low-ball offers? I don't mean to denigrate your truck price at all, but I know you flip cars a lot and have a good handle on how to market used vehicles. I see the new Alu-body Ecoboost 4 door XLT F150s on ad all the time for around $28K. Why would someone pay even more for a used truck with 60K miles on it?

And, to add... I bought a brand new 2006 F150 XLT 5.4 back in 2006 for $18,900 OTD. I still see people selling 06s for the same price, with close to 100K miles on em!

Looks like a nice new ride and probably a perfect match for your planned usage. Cowboy Cadillac indeed, enjoy!

Nice truck, but if you are honest, Matt, you just had an itch for a nicer truck!

The $28k trucks you see new are 2wd single cab stripped work trucks. There is no decently equipped new 4x4 crew cab for under $35k. Most everything I found reasonably (not luxury) equipped is north of $40k.

I was truck shopping recently and bought a new Ram Ecodiesel for about $10k more than an out of warranty equivalent 3 year old model. What did it for me besides having a brand new truck for not much more was the large increase in fuel economy in the latest models, such as the 2.7 Ecoboost and the 3.0 Ecodiesel.

Look closer, those are total stripper 2wd regular cab trucks with the base engine. My 2012 had a $42k MSRP and the new 2015s are substantially more expensive.

George, I honestly loved my old truck, though the new one is nicer still. My ADD must be car based, I had this truck for three years!

Nope.

You would be amazed at the prices for new F150s in Southern California. $12K off sticker is common.

If you can buy a brand new 2015 Ecoboost crew cab with decent options for $28k you could resell them all day long on EBay elsewhere in America for substantially more. Our local discount dealership has heavily discounted crew cab 4x4 2014 models for much more. I'd love to see a link to that advertisement.

I just built an XLT 4x4 crew cab with the Ecoboost and similar options to my old truck, it was $46k. Average wholesale on a similar used 2015 is $31k with 28k miles. I would also like to see that truck for $28k because I would buy a few of them.

Be very careful chipping an ecoboost. Any motor that puts out that much specific output from the factory is perilously close to grenade territory and there are stories around about ecoboost engines going boom.

My best friend and business partner has the identical truck, 2013 F-150 ecoboost crew cab 4x4 and I've driven it a lot, including 1000 miles in one day. It gets an honest 17 mpg empty @ 70 mph w/ cruise on and the power is ok but nowhere in the same stratosphere as a modern diesel. I'm sure it will tow a boat, though.

It's all relative. It's a big torque improvement compared to a 5.0. Compared to 800 lb-ft in a 6.7 diesel? No way. But a comparable 2011+ F250 diesel would cost me another $15k pretty easily. It should be a nice improvement in towing, weather permitting I will find out this weekend.

Yeah, I forgot about your ADD. This truck will not last. You will have a one ton diesel in 12 months or less. Mark my words.

Getting a dealer's license for you is like a drug addict starting to deal. Much easier and less expensive access to drugs now. Not good!

You have absolutely no idea....... I want to keep them all, which isn't very good for business.

Oh man! To keep with the analogy, you deal drugs now but take them all yourself! Haha!

Did you sell the 996 TT? I don't have car money now after buying a new truck, unfortunately.

You can buy new 2015 ecoboost equipped 4x4 xlt crewcabs all day for about $30 US here in Canada. A well equipped 4x4 2016 F350 crew 4x4 is about $42 US .The dollar has fallen compared to US$ faster than they,ve adjusted the prices. Used everything with a transfer case at the auctions is heading south.

The 996TT and a 2008 GT500 top the "wish I still had them" list. Some day when the TT is no longer cheap I will lament that sale.

I'd love to see some links to those as well. Though it does help explain why I see a lot of Canadian vehicles for sale at auction.
