Hey guys I am still here . Had my last radiation treatment this morning, had a total of 25 . Turns out the spot they found was on the outside of the prostate near a lymph node . So to be extra cautious we went from 5 planned treatments to 25 . Radiation doctor said he couldn't have asked for better results . Makes me happy

Tomorrow morning I meet with another doctor on the team to get setup with follow on oral testosterone blocking medication . After that I am done and back to enjoying life . Hopefully this is the last of it and I can just chill and enjoy . Early detection is the key gentleman , don't ignore or be stubborn . It felt great ringing that bell at the doctors office this morning !!!!!

Yeah I was already being tested every 6 months so that will continue . First test will be in March by the radiation doctor . After that I assume will be with my primary care doctor or urologist .

Update time: had a follow up appointment with my radiation oncologist doc this morning . My PSA this morning was 0.04 so great results . Doctor was very happy and feels confident we can meet again in 4 months . Met with my other doc on Tuesday , she is in charge of following my bloodwork outside of PSA to make sure the testosterone blocker is not affecting kidneys or liver . Got a thumbs up from her on Tuesdays test results .

So I have put this all in the rearview mirror and enjoying life . This is two times now for me so I do know the chance of it coming back does exist . Nothing I can do other than see the docs when they tell me and listen to what they say along with the data . Get those checkups gentleman ........ could save your life !!!

You will now experience manopause from the testosterone blocker, hot flashes, etc.
My brother is going thru it right now too
My understanding is that prostate cancer feeds on testosterone, thus the blocker?

That is my understanding also . I have been on it since January and the only side affects for me has been the hot flashes . The doctors said this is an insurance policy to starve any rogue cells . The stuff is over 3 grand a month !!! But we were lucky and found a medical grant that will pay the first year . We will cross the bridge for the 2nd year when we get there .
