2 things I don't like: Can't stand in it, have to go outside to cook. One BIG reason to get a camper is to get out of the weather, including the ability to cook for yourself. And having no way to step into it, just straigth to bed is just too much like a tent, IMHO.
Personally, I don't need a toilet when camping. Either there is facilities or when in BFE, the world is your bathroom. Nothing is more gross than putting a deuce into a porta-potty in a confined space. I have a slide in truck popup camper. Like this. Of course you need a truck. But it checks all the boxes for me, including the ability to 4x4 into the back country and also go down the freeway at full speed (CA has 55 mph speed limit for trailering). G ![]() |

I prefer something with a little more space. I dirt camped for decades. If I'm at a place with hookups, five to ten minutes until I'm set up. If dry camping (no hookups) 2-3 minutes and 3 or 4 buttons to push.

LOL HUGH! That's an order of magnitude bigger and more expensive too! Haha! Here is mine, cross posting from the Ram Ecodiesel thread. I like BFE camping ... muddy boots and a wet dog need to fit in there too. That trailer won't qualify. But Hugh's camper would. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I miss my little Starcraft slide in popup camper. It had a cool full height door on it and everything inside that one or maybe two people could need.

Going by the video I would guess it's back heavy. That would make towing it "interesting".

Yeah, and a weight of 1715 lbs plus whatever you toss inside. Could be interesting.

That is a neat design with the pull out section forward expanding the interior space.
These are an interesting nitch , more than a tent, barely a camper. I do like the look of them. Saw this beautiful home made wooden one. ![]() But at 15k. That's 2/3 of the cost of my motorhome. ![]() Similarly this sprinter based airstream interstate at almost three times the cost of my coach and S C tow vehicle combined seems an interesting choice. ![]() I do envy their 18/20 mpg! Sure am glad that fuel prices have been low for my long summer trip. Cheers Richard |

Wife wants a Safari Condo teardrop camper. I can't justify the $25k price.

I always liked the three Airstream Bambi's Ralph Lauren styled. One was Nautical, one Western (my favorite of the three) and one Army Surplus.

George.
That pop up rides in the truck full time? Is it a B to unload/load? Sent via Jedi mind trick.

When going to the woods I take the lift legs off, which is 3 bolts each corner < 15 minutes with air tools. With legs installed, it takes 15 minutes to unload with a power drill cranking the lift legs. Loading the unit takes more time, as backing up into it and lowering it requires more careful steps and time to center it and tie it down etc. I timed it and it is about 30 minutes. Overall it isn't a big PITA. It sure beats putting up tents. During hunting season it stays in the truck quite a bit. My wife isn't too annoyed yet, but there may be a sedan in her future for in town trips. ![]() G |
