Any IP cameras that send SMS w/o computer on?

Ugly title, I know.. do you guys know of any model of IP camera that will send you a text message without requiring you to set up a computer (always on) to relay the information and turn the alert into a text message or an email ? I mean direct from camera to your phone #... I imagine those things would have to have a sim card...

Can't seem to find one...

TRENDnet | Products | Surveillance | Cloud Cameras

Been using their products for years.....have 3 of them now, monitoring the home and sending me emails on motion detection.....

There is no computer involved other than the initial set up, use port forwarding on your router and you can monitor in real time, change settings and so forth.

Cheap too..

Hi,
I am a Foscam user, cheap, and they work, without any Cloud costs.

Cool but I deliberately avoid / block ANYTHING Google. The profiles they're building (and have been for years) on most Americans would make the FBI and NSA jealous. Where do you think their company value comes from? A few ads? Hardly - it's the value of the profiles they've been busily compiling for years now. Sooner or later they're going to cash in and sell all that information and it'll be the end of any personal privacy as we know it - every web site you've ever searched for or visited, every web form you've ever filled out, etc. will be up for grabs by any corporation that wants it (think insurance companies, etc. what can possibly go wrong?)

I definitely wouldn't want them having photos or videos from inside my home, or even to know where I live for that matter. The less others know about me and how I choose to live, the better off I am. Information in others' hands is NEVER in your best interest and will ALWAYS be used against you eventually.

Sorry to sound paranoid or for a hijack but as time goes on big corporations are becoming the greatest threats to personal liberty we face - almost as much as big government. This is especially true of data miners like Google.

To the original point I have several Swann cameras going to a DVR that I can access via the Internet anywhere, anytime through a login to my own home network (Linux based server) so I can see what's going on anytime I want real-time (and know it's all being written to a hard drive) and it doesn't go through anyone else's network (especially not Google's).

I have two security cameras OUTSIDE on my house and I would like to add some more. The two I have are several years old and crappy resolution and slow refresh rate. They are mostly infrared cameras because the grass and trees are red and the nigh vision is good. I want some HD cameras only outside. I see no reason to ever video in the house. Nothing is so secure that a decent hacker can't see the video feed.

The TRENDnet stuff looks pretty good. It is not cheap, but quality never is. I may well buy 4 cameras and the power over ethernet power unit-hard drive.

I used to have D-link that was kind of crude. I have this Foscam now and I'm happy with it.

I have setup a few of the Hikvision cameras, motion detection, record to internal SD card or NAS, email images. Not all the models will do it, I used the 3MP compact dome

The Trendnet stuff gets priced really well just as they are ending a product cycle.....the two latest ones I have are not **quite** HD and I was able to pick them up locally for $150 or so....

Video quality is quite good, way better than the one older one I still have active, better than what I need and better than my internet connection will reliably support at the highest resolution.

My only complaint is that they are not autofocus, which means that you have a lens with a really deep depth of field, but still have to compromise what is in focus and what is not. Not a biggie for the most part, but irritating. They sell autofocus versions but those are truly expensive.....
