new project
Seeing that Porsches are WAY out of my price range these days, I picked this up as a little project car. Needs to be sorted out. Brakes, fuel system, etc. I'm having the electrical sorted out by a pro before I drag it from Ohio to PA. I don't do electricals very well, and my last name IS Lucas, so the lights dim when I enter a room,, This should be fun..

It's really solid for a 41 year old car. Been sitting in my friends showroom for 5 years. Good. solid, dry car that is all there. Brakes are seized, but it turns over easy so the engine should be good. It really just needs a good cleaning and sorting. Came with another good top, the one in the pic is rotted pretty bad.

I had one of those in Germany back in the early 70's. I bought it then because I couldn't afford a Porsche at the time. Fun car, does it have electric OD? Mine was Teal blue, picked it up in London. Fun driving a left hand drive car in right hand drive country.

Nice pickup. I still have mine from high school, if in a few pieces. After all these years I still think they look good. Lots of good memories in a MG. Good luck.

no it does not have OD. I have had a couple of these myself. The B-GT I had, had the OD and it was pretty nice for highway cruising.

it's a far cry from my 70 S, but for under $4K, tons of cheap parts out there and classic English styling I felt it was a good start on a decent car. Low and slow.. I think the specs say 0-60 in something stupid like 12 sec. LOL..

I joined an MG forum like Pelican and the topics are hilarious... "turn signals won't work in the rain" stuff like that...

I had a series of chrome bumper "B's" up through around 2000 when I bought my first 911. Fun little cars. Easy to work on. Cheap, readily available parts, and lots of online support! You will have fun with this car.

That is the goal. Fun at a mild expense. The MG forum seems a lot like here. Good guys, lots of knowledge and a few wise guys...

Nice project David!
I regret letting mine go but without a garage at the time, it made less sense than ever to have an English car. As for wisdom, we all seem wise until our fingers touch the keyboard. Best Les

I have a 70b-sitting at my ex's. 90% of the electrical troubles are in the fuse box, there's only like 6 fuses, and the terminals suck. Nice score.

That looks like an MGB that is is good shape. I used to have one that was BRG. Not especially fast but lots of fun. In those days I did not get a PPI and bought a used one and it had an oily coating on the inside of the tailpipe. The significance of that did not hit me until I realized I was getting only 200 miles to a quart of oil. The positives? A pleasant engine sound and exhaust note. Traded it in after a year or two for a new '73 Beetle.

I almost bought one of those in high school but my dad put his foot down and said no way! Guess he knew he'd get stuck with any wiring issues.
So I bought a 914 instead, which he would have nothing to do with ![]() ![]() |

I love it! My next restoration after the Corvair will be a chrome bumper MGB GT, or an MGC GT if I can find one! Looks like fun!!!!
