Microsoft AI turns Nazi and solicits sex
This is funny.
Tay, the neo-Nazi millennial chatbot, gets autopsied | Ars Technica http://www.theverge.com/2016/3/24/11297050/tay-microsoft-chatbot-racist I'd guess that the Microsoft AI researchers don't actually spend much time in the scummy underbelly of Twitter.

The sad thing is there was a guy in the room who said, "this is a bad idea", and everyone ignored him.

I told my son about this as we were eating Easter Sunday brunch. His response was "you mean she turned into Max Mosely?" I assured him that Microsoft had indeed created an AI Max Mosely.

AI is inevitable.
It's either going to allow us to flourish or it'll be our end. |

Twitter made a robot hate hate humanity in less than 24 hours, not surprising really.

Anyone that trusts their voice-into-type on their cellphone is aware that the kids have taken over any words that start with c, p, v, d, a.
No matter what word you say, the 13-year old's word is getting sent. |

Well, given the effect that twitter/reddit/etc has on actual humans, this is actually just about par for the course.

This seems no different than a child from a dysfunctional family. Provide the stimulus and don't allow for social filters to develop while providing positive feedback for ill behavior and take away any form of negative re-enforcement for anything that those in society would deem inappropriate and you have exactly what you got.

"They" really need to work in Isaac Asimov's three laws of robotics into the base code of any future IA.
A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. AI will happen, just not anytime real soon. I will like having a car that can ferry me around when I am too old to drive myself.

If I understand it correctly, this AI doesn't "know" that Hitler killed 6MM in camps and started WW2, nor would it recognize those actions as "bad". It's sort of a pattern recognition machine.
