Need a simple, tough, cheap watch

Quick, point me to a <<$100 watch!

Here's the sitch: 16 y/o son, working at camp at 6500 ft in the mountains all summer, needs a watch. Nothing fancy, just something to tell the time, maybe an alarm or timer, so that he reports for work at the right time and so on. He's learning that it isn't actually convenient to carry your cellphone everywhere and fish it out of your pocket whenever you need to check the time. Needs to be waterproof, as he does some relief lifeguarding, and reasonably sturdy, because he'll be wearing it while fixing, hauling, and cleaning stuff including toilets. And not ugly. And . . . let's keep it fairly inexpensive, shall we? Frankly, I'm thinking that what I'm describing should cost $35 and be branded "Timex" but I must be showing my age.

Suggestions?. Need to get and mail him something quickly.

Seiko Kinetic, or Solar... Should set a good example.

This one has done the job for me for many years. A little pricey, but I used to destroy Timex's in less than a year. You can decide regarding 'ugly" - I have no sense of style

Another vote for Casio G-shock.

There may also be some Timex watches that would do, but I think your best bet is the G-Shock. I think big and bold is what most kids like these days too.

Here, if you search for "casio g-shock" on Amazon, there are many, many options.
He can search from a plethora of different looks and styles and even colors.

Most of them are $40-80, but there are some as high as $200.

+1 Casio G-shock. Tough, accurate (~15s/month drift, mine's much better), waterproof. Long battery life if you stay off the nightlight.

I do love my timex expedition. I particularly like the illuminated night dial feature. No, I am not a watch guy! I always take it camping and sailing.

The classic... Casio F-91W. Introduced in 1991 and still made today. Tough and water resistant.

Also, often used by terrorist as timers for bombs.

This. Had one I wore for years, survived an entire Philmont trek before finally dying in college. Great digital watch that won't break the bank.

Cool! I've put a bunch on these on a wishlist in Amazon and will let him pick. Thanks!

I thought about sending him my vintage 1970s Seiko Diver. I decided against it . . .

Love G Shocks - even these seem to go for a coupla hundred these days. They never stop, I think the last (only) one I bought was about $80.

If, for about the same $$, who want to get him something that's as tough as nails and he can keep for ever as a "beater"- the classic Seiko SKX007 diver.

Wow, that Timex really takes me back. I think I had one of those with my first job, first wallet, and first bank account ever.
