Need a Generator?

If you are in the Houston area and need a generator, I have a few 20 kW home type backup units on sale until my stock is gone. Natural Gas/Propane, 20kW GE Branded (Briggs & Stratton) Air cooled. $3500.

Hard to believe average residential homes have grown to peaks of 20kW or more. Seems like the average as little as 1995 was around 12-13kW.

Guess all the smart everything's take up a lot of power!

The issue for most of us is Air Conditioning. In rush current can be 5 times the operating current. Even allowing a 30% voltage sag, a 20kW unit will barely start a 5 ton air conditioner. We also sell soft-starts which reduce in-rush to 50% over running current. A 10 kW unit could start that.

I wouldn't mind a kit or some book or something that shows me how to wire the house to be powered by an el cheapo Harbor Freight 8750 generator.
