Damned fine job! May the vet do a good job and you wind up with a loving girl who will pay you for your kindness a thousand times over..

Thanks! I can get her into the vet tomorrow.

Loaded her up in the car at the end of shift around 0300. Took it easy on the way home in the curves while pandora serenaded us all the way home during the hour plus drive. She did surprisingly well and was less yowly than the boys.

Alarm set for 0800 to call the vet.

Got home at 0415, in bed by 0500 and up by 0800, to make a call into our Vet. They were able to squeeze us in at 10:00AM so that was nice. Left for work by 1400 and work until 0300 the following morning. Now, if I can stay awake on the drive home on the twisties will be nothing short of a miracle.
She actually did fairly well with the staff and tolerated being poked and prodded. Two blood draws proved all clear on all levels, infectious diseases and other panels. She has already been spayed and released when she was much younger. This was evident by the small green belly tattoo rather than the notched ear, commonly done. I was sent home with medication to be applied to her ear and cone……seriously, a cone for a feral cat?!?!? What could possibly go wrong???? Our vet believes that her eye issue was due to an irritated scratch rather than Glaucoma. Eye pressure looked good, I guess.
She is back home and sequestered to our laundry room with a kitty box, kibble, water and a large pad. I even tossed in one of my t-shirts I wore a couple days ago, hoping my smell is on it so she might get use to it. she will probably pee on it because I was the one who trapped her. our water fountain just outside the window should provide rhythmic sound of falling water to help calm her…

Cheers

Good work. I predict you will end up with a grateful, cuddly cat. They eventually figure things out. I've had mistreated cats that took as much as 3 years to trust & show affection.

Bugs, we sure can't save the world, but it looks like you have saved a small piece of it. Many thanks for giving me a smile on Thanksgiving morning.

Great pics everyone, and Bug, keep it up. I actually took both of my sister's cats, Simon just is very, very shy, but is adjusting, Grumps isn't too happy though.

Thanks!
We are taking baby steps getting know each other. I was able to pick her up to give her the eye meds, although she wasn’t at all happy with me afterwards. I am trying not to have to gently grasp her by the scruff of her neck if I can help it. I actually got a little purr out of her when I stepped into her space and was able to give some ear and neck scratches.

Have a Bluetooth speaker playing calming meditation music to get her use to sounds around the house. The laundry room door is now open with gates stacked up. Hoping to allow her to hear me and see shadows. She can see a little out of the eye because she will track from time to time.

Still working on the hissing. Everything in good time. The challenge is my work schedule. I work a 10.5 hour shift with an hour commute on top. I usually leave at 3:00 PM and return at 4:00 AM, barring any unforeseen natural disaster I come across. This added to only getting three days off in a two week run doesn’t help the medication plan.

I do what I can…

Hey, whatever you're doing is light years ahead of what she had before you....hope the eye heals. I have the feeling you've just gained a loving companion, given a bit more time. A tip of my hat to you..

Bugs, great job! Thank you - it’s good to know there are still people like you out there.

Myself and two other neighbors once split a $7k vet bill for a tabby named Dilly… complete bone break, plates, etc. - healed perfectly…. 3 years later she’s doing great and sleeps warm and cozy every night.

Check out Paul the cat guy on IG sometime… unbelievable stuff.
