Make Bruins Great Again

Most people won't remember but my first impression of Gene Wilder came in the movie The Producers. He was a fantastic straight man to Zero Mostel

His best scene:
"Well, it got so that every pi$$-ant prairie punk who thought he could shoot a gun would ride into town to try out the Waco Kid. I must have killed more men than Cecil B. DeMille. It got pretty gritty. I started to hear the word "draw" in my sleep. Then one day, I was just walking down the street when I heard a voice behind me say, "Reach for it, mister!" I spun around... and there I was, face to face with a six-year old kid. Well, I just threw my guns down and walked away. Little bastard shot me in the a$$. So I limped to the nearest saloon, crawled inside a whiskey bottle... and I've been there ever since."

As saddened as I am by the news, it is comforting to think that Gene and Gilda are reunited...

RIP Gene

I have seen all of his movies. I wasn't sure what kind of person he was because I don't care about actors and their opinions.
I was interested in this type of insight: https://pjmedia.com/spengler/2016/08/29/gene-wilders-best-joke/?singlepage=true The late Gene Wilder not only played comedy, but wrote it. "Young Frankenstein," for my money Mel Brook's best film, was Wilder's idea, and the script was a joint effort by the two comic geniuses. Cloris Leachman's creepy cameo as Frau Blücher, the housekeeper and apparent mistress of the late monster-maker, qualifies as one of the funniest moments on the American screen. Horses rear in terror at the mention of her name. She gazes at her dead lover's grandson with a perverse lust that would grow fungus on a billiard ball. And she was in the film for a reason... Read the rest. I get out plenty.

I still have, and occasionally watch one of his earlier movies, "Quackser Fortune has a cousin in the Bronks."
He seemed like a gentle soul that managed to survive despite the nature of Hollywood.

Watched Blazing Saddles last night. They don't make movies like that any more, I'm kind of tired of all the CGI in movies today.

"Gene Wilder largely avoided making movies later in his life, saying he wasn't a fan of the gratuitous violence and swearing in Hollywood."
