Do you have possession of it yet AB? What is your overall plan for it?
I love the look of those busses, if I were in the market for a motor home I would definitely go the conversion route if I could find a good sceniccruiser. They just have character. |
Pictures? More info?
I'm not sure what happened but you got me looking at old buses now... |
Looking forward to seeing more of your rig, Afterburn.
For those that are interested in these buss conversion RVs check out Prevost and American Eagle. They both build beautiful high quality rigs. Cheers Richard |
you can do that in IrfanView (Windows) or in Preview on the Mac...
we are all frickin' breathless to see this thang... |
You should have Paint in your Windows. Paste your pic into the app with Ctrl-V and then use the 'brush' to mark over the license plate. Save and store it in your pictures. I don't drag and drop with Pelican v-Bulletin but that's a possibility.
Maybe someone can explain the D 'n D. |

when are you going on tour?
|
what you need is a Transmogrifier
|
Are you going to use as is or restore it? Sounds like an interesting project
|
That's awesome afterburn - really happy for you.

While a big project, that bus looks really cool. |
All right Afterburn,
RestoMod scenic cruiser escapemobil. Sounds great! There are lots of detailed accounts of complete rebuilds of airstreams on airforums.com RV systems are pretty generic, same appliances generally The site is broken down into different subjects. Technical and restoration. Plenty of good info for your interior buildout. Look for forums on the upper toolbar of airforums.com homepage. It's going to be fun watching you pull it together. Cheers Richard |
That will be one amazing second home when you are done afterburn, and a fun project in the meantime. Hope you and your family really get to enjoy it.
|
The 8V-71 is supposed to be simple and reliable but loud. Economy and power are not bad.
I suspect you have a spicer crash box. Do you know how to double clutch? There is a learning curve on them. |
you want a project??
do this: https://www.proterra.com/ add a small IC motor to make it a hybrid or a fuel cell from Ballard power... and don't fergit the autonomous driving modules |

I love this place, no matter what obscure vehicle comes up, someone here know them usually from direct experence. Too good.

A comment? This thread got under my skin. I have been binge watching "Bus Grease Monkey" on YouTube and scouring Craigslist for buses. Dammit. I don't need more projects! But wow, they are so cool!

This is an interesting YouTube channel about a guy who goes around the country in a bus, fixing other people's buses

Or another axle at least. |
Your two southern routes go through my neighborhood. The northern route would be only a few minutes north of me. I’d like to buy you lunch or a drink if you were able to make the trip. Let me know when you’re coming through.
|
Afterburn,
You need to come further West! Lovely bus! Interior pics? |
Northern route goes right past where I am now but it would depend on timing for catching me here. Of course I'd like to meet and may be able to help w mechanical needs. :)
|
I seem to recall some Wanderlodge discussion in this thread. One just popped up in AZ for 8k

Understatement. Needs a hazmat team. |

This is one of those things where you show up or take delivery, and what you saw in the pictures doesn't much resemble what you actually receive. We did some house hunting at the end of last year, and some of the pics were very different from the actual homes. It's interesting that in some of the pics there's carpet, but then as you get further through the pics, you're looking at press-board floors. |

Most RVs and trailers are made out of spit and staples.
The wood for structure is inch a quarter, and that was 30 years ago, You will NOT find anything like 2x4 in the walls. I will bet most the stuff is even cheaper built now. Buses are built much better and subscribe to conversion much better. Some busses are of course better then others. The Silver eagles are known for a HUGE rust problem. Crown is a brand that many aspire to. Most all the old GMC Greyhounds are good stock to deal with. They have a huge following and even bus shows . |
That Bluebird is good stock. You could hire Zeke to rehab the interiorhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat5.gif
