Thanx for trying folks .
Yes the flxible is not the PD 4501 . Looks sort of the same . I think the big giveaway is the no tag axle . AFAIK all Scenicruisers had one .

For the 4501 experts -I have been studying !
And the good news is- I have a line on a couple units for sale , finally ! In the process here, I have learned they all crack . Albeit I can not seem to get the information where this crack is, except by some windows. This does not scare me as i have as I have the means to cure it, i just do not know where to look.

I talked to the owner briefly and it is a couple of 50s buses grafted together. Would have like to seen the interior, maybe it makes up for the ungainly exterior.

All maybe true
But the scenic cruiser is the 911 of busses . It just looks right.

What is the advantage of converting an old chassis like that to an RV? We’re the older styles more comfortable or do you upgrade the suspension and all the components to modern spec? If you convert everything to modern spec, would it be easier to just start with a recently retired bus? Or is this an adventure in making a vintage cruiser that is also modern?

A golf buddy said years ago; I could stay in a 5 star hotel each night I travel for the "cost"of a RV. As I get older, he's right.

Yer gonna want to buy this and modify it for decades and then eventually jump off a cliff when the taxman squad comes a knockin' my friend:
Vintage 1946 Flxible Bus Conversion 8777 - Antique Buses, Motorcoach Conversions - Buses for Sale ![]() Needs another axle and severe driveline modification. Four tires? Pshsssss. You need 10. That's gonna cost the interior some space and everything's gotta be readjusted. Needs a newer bigger power plant than whatever that thing is. Geesh. Aw heck add battery racks roof panels and go all muthuf'in regenerative wheel hub hybrid and add the 110v redbeard system fo all da pimps rides. Driveline, heat/cooling, wallplugs, everything redundant, run off pure solar or auto switch to engine, whatever is better. Interior is 'sufficient' but unless you like 40 year old foam it needs an IKEA overhaul Small space - IKEA There is a lot of extra clothing storage space available with a little reorganizing and you understand that concept. You want a covered rack to store a couple road-legal 125s for going into town or down that trail over there I assume. An integrated flush pull-out canopy for grillin' and chillin' in the rain. A door-open storage area for all yer tools and jacks and lights and air. Last edited by john70t; 10-11-2017 at 06:48 PM.. |
