If You Could Be Famous
What would it be for?
Me, I think I'd most like to be famous for being a great guitarist. I play guitar, but not very well. ![]()

Pro athlete. Short career, then you live well forever. Baseball is best, least chance of injuries that ruin your retirement.

I would rather be wealthy than famous.
I don't think I would deal well with fans or media. If I had to be famous, I would want it to be for that time I saved a busload of nuns and orphans that were caught in a crossfire in Falafel, Afghanistan. The bus was low on gas, but I had the mother superior on the turret mounted 50. The sisters were busy pushin rosary beads while protecting the children, and I kept the pedal to the metal as we roared out of town on the AH76, heading for Warzikistan.

Fame is relative and is a slippery perch to sit upon.

I would decline wealth if fame was part of the price.
I love traveling as an unknown. Every time I see a famous athlete or actor in public they are being besieged by the public. Dinners with family and friends interrupted for selfies and autographs. Oh HELL NO! I've always wondered why the public thinks they are entitled to a celebrities signature. They owe the public nothing other than the entertainment they provide professionally. I'm waiting for a brave athlete to announce that he will sign autographs only one hour a week. And only for charities.

As it stands right now, I have had people come up to me and say hello in banks and restruants who I have briefly met before in the Thrifts I go to. People remember who I am because I talk to them. I impart knowledge to them. One 18 year old mom told me that she liked talking to me because I had something interesting to say every time I talked to her.
How many of you love to hate me or just find what I say to be interesting or thoughtful? Last edited by tabs; 10-27-2016 at 08:24 AM.. |

As Superman of course.
All of his super powers and if you want to be anonymous, just put on glasses and take off the superman suit.

I think the closest I'd like to get to the public eye would be as an accomplished and articulate scientist, a la Neil Degrasse Tyson, or Carl Sagan for you olds.

I work with a lot of celebrities. I can tell you it's not for me. I was talking to a friend yesterday who works on Jimmy Kimmel. She gets to see all the cool bands, Paul MacCartney even played the show on her birthday and sang The Birthday Song to her at soundcheck.
I asked her about Pres Obama visiting on Monday. The whole theater was swept of course for bombs, weapons, etc. They also removed all traces of food and drink. All drinks, snacks, food, plates, glasses and flatware were flown in from the White House, I thought that was interesting. As the last of the Secret Service agents were leaving my friend noticed a cut crystal water glass with the Presidential seal engraved on it and "Mr. President" etched in the glass. She told the agent about it and he said "Keep it, it's a great souvenir". I thought that was cool.
