WTH is wrong w Mustang drivers?

It may just be a perception, nah...they are the grim reaper. Has any car in history mowed down so many people?

I think a lot of people think a 400+ HP car will come back into line if you comepletely lift the throttle. It won't. Might as well hit the handbrake.

Most of them grew up learning to drive FWD cars with less than 200 hp and have no clue how to drive RWD with live axle, LSD and 350+ hp?

As stated, they are cheap which means that young guys can afford them. They are probably the first performance car that mayn of these folks have ever had, and these days the performance is high enough that they aren't a good first performance car.

Many of the drivers grew up driving video games. Just hit restart game and go. They obviously have a real problem finding the reset button on the dash of the real cars.

I know Corvette's have crazy high insurance rates and I bet the Mustangs are going to match those rates soon.

a very subtle foot is needed.
had it sideways several times under gas. lift enough to keep the wheels spinning but not so much that it goes on around.
also had it sideways going into a turn the other day. getting time to replace the tires


traction control in these new cars is the confidence builder. then the limits are exceeded beyond traction control.
my boss use to brag about how good a driver he was in his vette. I told him turn off the traction control and lets go race,

Yep, they play a little and get saved by the driver aids, but those things can only fix some problems, not all of them.

Here's a technological wonder, but it didn't save these folks.

Pretty tragic "accident" . According to one of the interviewed locals, it sounds like a pretty dangerous intersection.

I always worry about me or a loved one being tangled up in someone else's "moment". Growing in up in FL, I saw elderly drivers, on more than a couple of occasions, mistake the brake and gas pedals I know that's not what happened here, but it has made me a little nervous when in pedestrian/bystander mode, around traffic.

That may be true but doesn't have much to do w this incident, from the sound of it. Just garden variety, horrible driving. He could have been driving anything, but he was driving a Mustang. He was moving along at speed when it occurred, not spinning the tires coming out of a cars and coffee.

I still like video 'games', but the 'simulators' are so much better.
I played the Need For Speed series but noticed the invincible bumper car was affecting my perception of reality: Solid objects were no longer threats (yikes), there was no permanent damage from collisions, and abusing the controls and capabilities was normal and expected.
The GrandPrixLegends/GPL series is the exact opposite: It requires precision and careful attention to stay within the range at speed. It is unforgiving and sometimes even finishing the race course is a victory sometimes. Make a mistake and it's instant game over.

I've always wanted Drivers Ed to have simulators covering every real-life complex scenario and how applicants react:
-Car doors suddenly opening.
-Children and pet running across the street in front of stopped cars in other lanes.
-Speeding traffic from the sides when entering a throughway.
-Who has right-of way in various situations.
-Highway behavior and when to pass or not.
-A mix of impatient/reckless/slow/normal vehicles.
-etc
