HA! I did it AGAIN!

A couple weeks ago I was at Taco Bell with a couple of kids who were working for me. (not my first choice in cuisine). The line was L-shaped with 4-5 people lined up in front of the register an me and some other people at a 90 degree angle leading clear out the door. I was standing next to a dude at the apex of the “L” who had his ear buds in and was intently effing around with his phone, totally oblivious to what was going on with the order line. The line in front of him cleared and the order taker called “next.” I waited half a second to see if he would pay attention, and then went to the counter ahead of the guy. The guy harrumphed and complained, but I told him I didn’t want to wait for him to finish his phone call to place my order. Felt kind of good. So today almost exactly the same thing happened again! At Starbucks – clueless phone addict alone at the head of a line 15 feet from the counter. Again, some mumbled “I was here first,” but I told him he needs to pay attention, we can’t all wait for his phone conversations.

Nice work! Tapping him on the shoulder would've been such a p.u.s.s. move. Have fun buffing the key scratch out of your car. OTOH good job

^ this. How hard would that have been to nudge the guy in front of you. Instead you have to be "that guy."

Haha, well done. And you are not his mother to help him out with these things and take care of his feelings in a sensitive way. It reminds me. A chick at KFC was standing about 15' away from the counter and I was behind her. I said if you are in the queue you better move forward. She looked a bit chitty about being given advice and a bit later told her BF. He started giving me very evil stares but my confident quarter smile back at him told him I'll knock you unconscious if you approach me LOL

You're about halfway finished to teaching all those essential life-lessons never learned. Ya meany. (harumpt) edit: Sorry I was being facetious. Ya wasen't teaching him anything except how to be rude. I would have walked up to the counter and blocked you out if that was me. That happens sometimes when I feel breath on the back of my neck in a supermarket line. My head itches and the elbows get a bit careless. BTW that is less than the three foot rule. So many times I've bagged my own groceries and returned to pay, but find someone already blocking out the point of sale machine, twitching like a junky and breathing heavy. Geeze they must have sprinted through the entire supermarket to need to save that much time. First mistake gets a courteous "excuse me but". Everyone is owed that. Only the second time gets the pimp hand.

Oh, I'm very aware of when a light turns green. I'm also aware that there are true numbnuts who run red lights and T bone people who leave the instant the light turns green. Cuss me all you want...but I look at cross street traffic before taking off on a green.

I have seen this happen many times while I'm waiting in line for whatever. Just because someone is distracted and does not immediately close the gap per someone else's arbitrary requirements, it does not mean that the line is going slower or that someone is going to get his turn any more or less quickly. There is simply no excuse for this kind of rude, selfish behavior, and I will challenge it any time I see it, whether I'm in line in front of it or behind it, whether it is "my business" or not. I'll politely give the guy one chance to return to his proper place in line and apologize. If he continues to be an ass about it, I'll "assist" him to whatever degree necessary.

We were already placing our orders before he even noticed. The person behind me was moving into line in front of him before he looked up. Yeah, I don’t have patience with people who don’t have the simple courtesy to pay attention to what they are doing. I wasn’t trying to teach him a lesson, I wanted to feed my workers and get back to work.

It's just a complete lack of common courtesy to be so involved with your phone to not notice life happening around you. This is OK if you are sitting in a parking spot, or on a park bench, but keep your distracted self out of the way.

i think its funny. I have a big issue with inconsiderate phone addicts that have no consideration of others, taco bell though? and you waited in line?! and a long line at that. my big thing is when you are talking to someone and they pick up their phone to text. perhaps that is their way of ending the conversation so I just walk off. next time ask them how long you should wait for them to get done with their phone before you move up. unfortunately the lack of phone etiquette is very lacking

Have to agree. Very rude to be lost in your phone like that. Not sure how some of these guys would feel if the guy in front of them at a stop light did the same thing when it turned green. Pwd I too give a half second look before being the first to leave in intersection. Just smart driving.

THere's a difference between a short pause at a red light to ensure that cross traffic isn't going and someone who's gaze and concentration is on their phone.

THis is like the jackass that sits at a green light until the light turns yellow and then goes because they were doing anything other than "driving". The only problem is that person is in the way, so they'll get a quick toot of the horn assuming I can see through the rear window and see that their head is down.

I have spent years of my life waiting in line..i don't have the time to waste anymore and get impatient waiting. That said I had one item in hand and was quickly walking out of Sams as I had some meat in the truck and it was 110* out. As I went past this old man pushing a heavy cart full of stuff he started to race me for the door. As I got ahead of him and was going through the he said your rude. I turned and said your right I am the rudest person you will ever meet. He said your rude again. I replied As a matter of fact I am going to he11. I turned and walked ignoring his your rude comments. Then he started calling me a jerk off and I agreed with him again saying I am the biggest mfing jerk off you will ever meet. Then he said I bet you voted for Trump. I said your GD right better than that corrupt beothch hillary. I got in my truck and he called me a jerk off again, I said have a nice day as he flipped me off while calling me a jerk off. It just goes to show you can't please some people even by agreeing with them. Last edited by tabs; 08-31-2018 at 04:47 AM..
