Hmm, could this dream job be as a "secret shopper"?

Are they going to fly him all over the world to "test" random drivers?

May I suggest something other than a dress?

Brazil will be one of my territories. I dig that totally.

That would be a very cool job... I wonder if they have those? They must!

I am applying for a position to oversee map acquisition globally.

That would be awesome, Kevin. I was staying in Pasadena a couple months ago, but I had a van load of Russian in-laws with me at the time.

Very creative! I think that would score some serious points!

Yep, for most webcams it's probably better to sit back a bit to minimize the wide-angle fun house/fisheye effect. Also, your mug should be front-lit, so most of the lighting should be coming from behind the camera, not "into" the camera from behind you (back & side lighting = bad in most cases). Try not to be front-lit from your monitor either, as you can look blue-ish/washed-out with horrible color rendition. Maybe turn down the brightness a bit on it. You might try setting up the cam in front of that window so it lights you from the front with natural light. Experiment with stills like the one you took above before go-time. Good luck.

I had a Skype interview once. I had a button up with no pants. I tucked my shirt into my underwear.

Assuming you get the job(be careful what you wish for) I hope they give you enough holidays to do the things you would like to do ie. motorbike trip to Alaska plus your numerous other sidetrips. I see you as charismatic enough to do something like Anthony Bourdain but without the food. Don't sell yourself short.....

Awesome. Put the skype window right below the webcam and look at the camera, not the person. Smile, relax, and be yourself. Good luck!

we use Skype for Business for all our meetings. I think a lot has been said about bandwidth. And a good mic, not the built in one on a laptop, those are horrible.

Also, remember the lag time between you speaking and the sound getting to the other person. Wait the extra second or two before you start to talk. In the meantime, don't move much, or move slowly as you adjust your body naturally so your head on the screen doesn't seem to much out of synch with the sound. Speak as naturally as you can as you compensate for the time lag.

Don't comment on or get distracted by artifacts in the other party's background. It's excellent advice to look into the camera rather than the screen. Remember that you're trying to make a good impression based on what the other person sees, your view is unimportant.

You guys gave me a lot of great advice, encouragement and well wishes, and I really appreciate that!

The interview went pretty well. I'd give myself about an 8 rating. I could have done a bit better in a couple areas, but overall, I think I did OK. She did email me an Excel assignment to complete over the weekend, which is a good sign. If the interview doesn't go well, you don't get the Excel assignment. Assuming I complete that, next up are Zoom interviews with managers in Denver, Cape Town and Australia next week. If those go well and I accept the offer, I'll be on a plane to Cape Town within a day or two.

One step closer

Smile and hair are great, room needs a lot of work (as in find another) single gray wall lit well from in front of the camera.Maybe a single benign piece of art off to one side

Shave most of the scruff, and throw some of wifey's base on the greasy forehead. Other than that you're good to go.

I would make sure your better half (Your Bride) is in the back ground of the feed. Other than than that you have it scored, based on you. Good Luck you certainly live in the right place. Montana = Versatile .

Sounds like this gig may be based "elsewhere"?

Will there be an allowance to convert your conveyances to RHD or you just gonna eyeball it?

Great job Richard. Yes, you would not get the next assignment if you weren't still in the selection.

I'd kill to see the excel assignment. Tell us a little more, if you can! Will it require macros? How advanced is it? Is it big - how long will it take you?

Good Luck!
