Delorean with V-8?
I recently came across someone selling a DeLorean for a very low price, except that the engine is missing.
I was just thinking for a sec about the feasibility of putting like a 350 V-8 with T.P.I. in there. I know that weird Volvo-Renault hybrid engine is a P.O.S. so I wouldnt look for that. I know they dont have a good reputation, (Johnny Carson, a major investor in DeLorean, had his alternator burn out when he picked his up from the dock) But I just think it would totally rock to have a DeLorean. I'd be out there every weekend with the Scotchbrite pads. |

This is probably the most common DeLorean mod out there (I mean, how common could a DELOREAN mod be?). The car used in BACK TO THE FUTURE actually had a Chevy V8 in it, although i forget the exact engine. You can definitely hear the V8 in several key scenes.
Go for it! I wil own a DeLorean some day... they are the cars that got me interested in cars. Hell, even if you don't find an engine for it, it would still be cool to have the shell... you could make it into a conversation piece or somethin.

It would be even cooler to put on all the wires and lines and stuff like the time machine

There is an annual British car show in my area at the Moraine Valley Community College. Plenty of nice Brit. cars there. For some reason, the DeLoreans make a showing at this event.
There is one DeLorean that the guy made to be exactly like the real deal from the movie. Wires, time circuits, flux capacitor, you name it. Really amusing car. There's also one there with twin turbochargers. Can't recall what motor it has, but does have the turbos. I recall maybe a half-dozen or more cars at the event. Kinda funny to see that many of them in one place. The early 80's............ what a goofy decade for cars.

I know DeLorean was planning on eventually having a twin turbo option avialable for the car.
Does anyone know anything more about the supposed firestorm 500 DeLorean was planning on building soon? |

According to ROAD & TRACK a couple years ago, John DeLorean is planning a comeback. His new line of cars will have a sporty SUV, a luxury GT/sedan, and (of course) a gull-winged coupe. Haven't heard stirrings about this for quite some time though.

Im thinking that he cant get any investors to actually build it. I remember hearing that he was planning for it to be under $20,000 and have 400HP.
