Another Bad Driving Thread

A few weeks ago, I was driving by the local Walmart (I didn't stop there). There is a frontage road that runs north/south in front of it, so after the main traffic light, you pass through and intersection with the frontage road. Traffic from the main intersection (running east/west) does not stop. Traffic on the frontage road (running north/south) has a stop sign.

So after proceeding through the main intersection with the traffic light, I slowly went through the intersection (maybe 20 mph) with the frontage road. It is near the university and people often think it is a four-way stop and dart out in front of cars on the east/west road. The guy behind me decides to gun it and go around me, through the intersection (borrowing liberally from our and the oncoming left turn lane in the process).

Now past the Walmart, we come to a stop sign. I am behind the jerk who passed me at the last intersection. He stops. I stop. And wait. And wait. And wait. He is motionless for a good 10 seconds with no other traffic at the intersection. Cars are lining up behind me, waiting. I tap my horn, because I figure he has become absorbed in his phone and just isn't paying attention.

He rolls down his window, leans out, turns around, and starts a profanity-laced tirade about how he can't go because there are cars coming. (I still haven't seen one cross his path.) I simply say: "Just go." Finally, a single vehicle, a city bus, crosses his path and turns left in front of him. We've been stopped at the intersection for over a minute, and he finally goes.

I don't think the guy was 100% sober. He flew around me at one intersection, then sat and waited for a bus that wasn't moving an intersection away at the next intersection.

I stayed in my car, remained calm, and did my best not to escalate things.

I feel for you bro! I had a few stalkers follow me, one was a scrawny and puny little dude that wanted to car jack me. Me being a gorilla hopped out of my 951 in my drive way, I walked over to him in his Honda and asked him what the "f" is his problem. He curled up like a Armadillo or a rolly polly bug and made up some bull "s" that he wanted to buy my car. I told him to "f" off, and to never follow me again. People look small in cars, but when they get out its a different story! I think the lit pip squeak wet his drawers and learned a valuable lesson, don't "f" with you fellow drivers. Nuff said!

I had some dip stick figure if he tailgated me I would speed up on a two lane road near my house. That simple does not work on me and I slow down to 5 under the limit. He kept pounding on his steering wheel and yelling something I could not hear. I took out my phone and put it in video mode and held it in the rear window of my El Camino. Since the window is right behind my head it was clear I was videoing him. He decided to make a turn and drove down a dead end road and that made me laugh hard. I never did know what set him off.
