OTOH, court records from his divorce show the passenger was a nut-ball!

United passenger traded drugs for gay sex with patient | Daily Mail Online

Quote:

Doctor dragged off United flight was felon who traded prescription drugs for secret gay sex with patient half his age and took them himself - and he needed anger management, was 'not forthright' and had control issues, psychiatrist found
  • Dr David Dao's troubled medical past is revealed in court documents
  • His wife Teresa - also a doctor - reported him to medical authorities and his secret inappropriate gay relationship with a patient was revealed
  • Father of five, 69, was convicted of a felony - but avoided prison time - because he was giving the man prescription drugs in return for gay sex
  • He denied the gay sex even though he was caught on camera shirtless and in his pants with Brian Case, his lover, 26, who was a fellow worshiper at his church
  • Psychiatrist found he had series of issues including lacking 'the foundation to navigate difficult situations'
  • One doctor wrote that he 'he would unilaterally chose to do his own thing'
  • He only got his licence back after agreeing to be drug tested and polygraphed
United are facing a furious backlash and boycott calls over the video. Their stock price plunged as Wall Street reacted to passenger fury. DailyMail.com also reveals that the airline told staff he had 'tried to strike law enforcement' - despite no evidence for that on the video

Matters not. United didn't know that: Select passengers at random, you get random.

United needs to get Dr. Drug some money stat and move on.

Stutzdriver 04-11-2017 09:32 AM

My son is an MD, work has been back channeled and hundreds of physicians are changing reservations from United. His institution had advised that the "official, preferred airline is now Delta.

He just cancelled 6 United reservations and rebooked on Delta.

Not a great idea on United's part. i fly out of CLE and boy do I miss Continental and our Continental hub here.

FWIW my stats were wrong- according to the WSJ US airlines bumped more 430,000 passengers last year.

United f'd up big time. They could have kept upping the offer and saved themselves a lot of money. Penny wise pound foolish.

Absolutely!

to me it looks like the doctor gave a hiss fit, and then got into it with the security and finally got his ass thrown out.

Overbooking sucks, but how about the reasonable couple that boarded off?

If it happened to me I would be pissed too, but I wouldn't have embarrassed myself in front of a full plane of passengers. I would get off and ask for compensation.

legion 04-11-2017 09:56 AM

They should probably work to make bumping more rare.

Just seems to be getting worse for United!

United’s stock is falling 2.8% and wiping $600 million off the airline’s market cap - MarketWatch

A guy sitting at an airport bar in Atlanta noticed a beautiful woman sitting next to him. He thought to himself, "Wow, she's so gorgeous she must be a flight attendant.

But which airline does she work for?" Hoping to gain her attention, he leaned towards her and uttered the Delta Slogan, "Love to fly and it shows?"

She gave him a blank, confused stare and he immediately thought to himself, "Nope, not Delta."

A moment later, another slogan popped into his head. He leaned towards her again, "Something special in the air?" She gave him the same confused look.

He mentally kicked himself, and scratched American Airlines off the list. Next he tried the Southwest slogan, "Low fares, nothing to hide?"

This time the woman savagely turned on him, "What the f**k do you want?"

The man smiled, then slumped back in his chair, and said.... "Ahhh, United Airlines!"

Quite remarkable how the entire industry has changed.

From mergers, rules and regulations, the zero privacy (example above already revealed of the subject passenger), get grabbed and felt, remove shoes and get the whiff of everyone else's, and good lord if you don't fly First class.

Though I've never seen a crew not pleasant. But rather always its others from obnoxious, dress like slobs, smelly, no manners or extend courtesy. The inconvenience of flight. LOL

No one as of yet has exactly explained how the incident escalated, but lets assume if the subject had been approached, he may or may not have politely or in respectable tone replied he was a doctor and imperative has a patient scheduled for the morning, whatever. Did he possibly give the crew some lip? (pun)

But ah yes- I don't think to be that old but do recall the days one could walk up to a counter, pay cash for a ticket, get a boarding pass, no security and walk to the gate, be greeted by attractive, fit and pleasant smelling 'stewardesses'. A free and decent courtesy snack with cocktail of choice. Happy flight all :-)

And since you're already off the plane, they would tell you to pound sand and take it up with the FAA.

how and why ?
just to get his bags ?
did he then stay on or get off the plane by himself the second time ?
was he arrested or detained ?
was he given another ticket to another flight ? or any cash on the spot ?
when did he get to his destination , how long after this fight/flight ?

What is the primary effect that CO2 has on climate in the lower atmosphere?

If you pay, you can still get this treatment. SmileWavy

Consider airfare is cheaper than greyhound.

Says something someone who has never dealt with United's customer relations... based on the FAA criteria I was entitled to several hundred dollars on some united flights that have been delayed due to incompetence... I think they gave me a $15 meal voucher one time and nothing the other times...

They count on people not knowing their rights and offeting as little as possible for compensation.

Not my problem if ppl are sheep and not knowing or asking their rights.

I am not buying into this whole story. There has to be more to it leading to the event his ass is getting thrown off the plane. Which is probably one of the funniest scenes i watched on tv this whole year so far.

How many doctor's do you know?

motion 04-11-2017 11:14 AM

I'll say it again: There is more to the story. This guy made himself some kind of target to be on the receiving end of treatment like that. It will come out.

I've seen a lot of bad behavior during my travels, but nothing like this. For the most part, flight attendants have all been pleasant and reasonable, in my experience. Not saying there are not bad apples out there... I know there are. I've been treated very poorly by Delta Red Coats at Atlanta airport on a few occasions, for really no reason at all. I hate that airport. I would imagine Chicago would be similar.

Even if you do know your rights, the flight crew just has to say the word and they are backed up by the guys with guns. As happened in this case.

I'm glad that there is a plan for response from the LE crowd. The most wrong part about this is that the flight crew was able to use Federal law (which should be related to security matters only!) in order to enforce United's business model/operations plan.

I would imagine that if there wasn't the threat of arrest, etc that you'd be seeing a lot less toleration of bull**** petty policies.

This is why I don't fly. My civil rights stay on the curb and the origination airport and don't show up again until I'm driving away from the destination airport. During the course of those hours, I can be molested, intimidated, starved, and held hostage. And any hint of unwillingness on my part can lead to getting beat up, arrested, and held indefinitely.
