Thing is, the rules were applied consistently... There's no arguing VER was 4 wheels off and passed. If you are off and do not pass it's not an issue. So the stewards were right and consistent, and I hated it as well.... What's messed up is...the rules. This was the pass of the year, and it killed the show. Even Raikonnen had no idea why VER was penalized. Brings back memories of Grosjean's pass on Massa in hungary last year (?), which was awesome and led to the same penalty... So what's the solution ? IMO *stop* making track runoff where drivers can go. Put 10ft of wet grass grass there. Or giant kerbs that break cars (grass is better). Resume asphalt later if you want... Simple. Aside from this, 2 conclusions for today: 1) Vettel's move in between Bottas and Vandorne was gold. Nicely done !!! Bottas must have felt that like a prostate exam... 2) it's not mercedes. It's Hamilton. Bottas is not a bad driver and he's below Vettel and Raikonnen in a Ferrari. I dislike HAM but I have to admit he is the fastest driver in the field, period.

He dribbled down his own leg. He objectively cut the corner, gaining an unfair advantage.

I came to that conclusion in his final years with McLaren. He still managed to wring out a win each season with an inferior car. He is the only driver in F1 to win a race in every season he has competed--that to me says more about his skill than anything else. No one competes for 11 seasons in F1 and always has the top car.

This pretty much sums it up. Fantastic move, but there is no incentive to not corner cut. If they add something and decrease the runoff slightly, the driver has to take a risk. I go for the pass, potentially having to let up because of grass, or stay back. It's not like RAI didn't leave any room either.

The pre-race stuff bordered on WWE trailer park nonsense. I was waiting on Pres Clinton to try and get a hook up with a Dallas Cowboy's Cheerleader. The Navy Petty Officer was awesome on the National Anthem. Seriously, that dude has a high roof to his mouth. Bolt as the post race interviewer? Who thought up that? Max's overtake. Wow, what a pass. I really thought that Kimi pushed him over, or moved that direction causing Max to move wide to avoid contact. I just don't think they are applying the rules fairly across the board. Monaco 2016, Hammy goes off after the tunnel to avoid missing the chicaine and thereby gained an unfair advantage by not having a shunt. Otherwise, Ricciardo passes him and gets the win. Stewards: no action taken. I'm not even sure if they reviewed. I just wish they would review and be consistent, or not review. It seems that race to race you don't know what you are getting and which track limits if any are being enforced.

Line the curbs with small knives that cut the tires and cause slow leaks. Problem solved. Last edited by sammyg2; 10-23-2017 at 06:53 AM..

That Mexican F1 track is a beauty, with lots of enthusiastic fans. Quali gave us a different front row, this could prove to be a great race. Hope Perez does well, he deserves it and would be good for his fans.

+1 Will Buxton is even worse. I literally have to fast-forward as soon as his voice comes on air. No need for 3 in the booth IMO...just leave it to Hobbs and Matchett. Then bring back Peter Windsor in the pits. Last edited by Eric Coffey; 10-29-2017 at 05:56 PM.. Reason: speeling

Lol, I do too. Imho, they can all go, which is highly likely with ESPN carrying US broadcast rights next year.

You summed it up in 4 words and I will add four more. He is the worst. I kept wanting to tweet or whatever to them during the race and ask Diffey how he likes the taste of Hamilton's scrotum. The year is now over and the Hammy pandering will go on for a few more races. I would rather eat a pile of dung. I'm really broken up about his 'impoverished' up bringing. On a brighter note, Max was simply brilliant. I bet McLaren are pooping themselves after all but one Renault engine broke yesterday. Did he cut my tyre on purpose? Really, what a prat. Sounds like Spa a couple of years ago...Nico hit me on purpose. Boo hoo .

Did you guys catch the microphone test during Fp2 ? They had it on Checo's car I think, made it louder but more in a really-annoying-mosquito-in-your-ear fashion. Please don't do that, give us real sound... Kudos to VET for trying but that was always gonna be game over... Amusing that no Honda blew today but 2 renaults did (supposedly the other 2 were KERS and steering related failures). Alonso and/or that McLaren Chassis !!! Can't wait to see the next car with a better engine, I hope the Renault is it ! Ocon, in my book, is the star of the future and the only threat to Verstappen, age wise... I hope he gets a seat to replace "Meh" Bottas in 2019.

On another note, Hamilton is such a douchebag: "I could do the easy thing like obviously Nico did which is just stop but I think there’s more in me" He's been taking potshots at Rosberg *all year,* the guy isn't even competing anymore and has stayed 100% quiet, to his credit - classy. Let it go already.... Why is it the really talented ones are always so flawed ?

SV is the douchebag not LH. And Max is the star of the future. But Ocon could be too.

I read somewhere that David Hobbs is retiring from broadcasting after this year. I, for one, will miss him. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
