Not a LH fan either here. I did want to reply to the comment regarding Hamilton having won at least one race in every year of F1 competition. Remember that Hamilton's TEAMMATE also won at least one race every year that LH has competed. For me, that demonstrates that LH has always had a winning car.

Why all the Hamilton hate? He is simply a better driver than anyone else out there, and to his fellow countrymen there is nothing prima donna-ish about his behaviour at all. Maybe American are just sick that no US driver is out there.

Go see where Mark was all those "Red Bull dominance years" I amassed a nice little breakdown of the "dominance" all the way back to Mika's last WDC. I would love to share it but it is a long post. The bottom line is, in the Red Bull years, which everyone said were boring, it was more driver than car. In the Mercedes years, that make the Red Bull years look exciting, it was all car. When Mercedes wins all but 3 races per season I call that a boring season and a dominant car.

Who said anything about hate? I just said that I wasn't a fan. That's not the same as hate. And I will stand corrected. Heikki didn't win a race in 2009, but he did in 2008. And Button won at least one race every year that he was paired with Hamilton.

I can't believe Lewis is still throwing barbs at Rosberg a year later, while ROS has been quiet and just congratulated him. It is also true he's never been in a bad car, he's always had a machine he could win with. To me he and Vettel are about equal #2 because both got their WCs in machines that were way above the field... I have more respect for a driver like Kimi in his prime (no politics) or Alonso (who also *****es like a prima donna) because he won 2 in a Renault (which wasn't bad but also not a top team) and almost won a couple in a Ferrari that was a bit of a dog. I liked Weber too, same reasons "not bad for a #2" ;-) Really looking forward to the new kids taking over, Max and Esteban in particular, Leclerc too if he makes it to Sauber. That kid is special... Then again I might not watch as assiduously next year if the Halo is as ugly as I fear... |

No doubt Vettle and Hammy are both top notch drivers. Both are virtual crybabies when things don't go their way.

I'm no fan of the way Hamilton carries himself a lot of the time either but the boy can drive winning car or not. SV is the one I "hate".
From the Multi 21 to blowing off Webber's retirement party, to running his car into Hamilton to his infamous f Charlie Whiting temper tantrum I don't think there's a less classier guy in F1. His move on Massa last week even brought his own team down on him. I'd b* itch slap him given the chance. FWIW I thought seeing Ham trying to get around Alonso was the best part of the race. So Hammy not going to the London F1 Fan Event doesn't qualify as prima donna-ish? If I recall, all other drivers attended.

I agree. I've never been critical of Hamilton's skills as a driver. That said, it would be nice if Mercedes actually had some consistent, genuine competition. I thought that Ferrari were going to bring it this year, but unfortunately not.
I also agree with those who believe that grid penalties are killing the sport. The real problem with those penalties is that they are based on a false premise, namely that forcing manufacturers to build long-life components makes the racing cheaper. Hasn't happened yet...

He doesn't have to attend every event, UK fans love him and he obviously loves them. That was a British flag he was waving after all. |

Hammy was the only driver to not attend London F1 event.
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2017/jul/13/lewis-hamilton-british-grand-prix "He was the only one of the 20 drivers not to take part, instead opting to take a two-day holiday in Greece as the best way to prepare." "When Hamilton’s name was announced at the F1 show in Trafalgar Square attended by 100,000 fans and organised by the sport’s new owners, the Formula One Group, it was booed." I'm not saying he can't do as he wishes. However, he consistently does things that, at least in my mind, discredit the persona he tries to project. Great driver nonetheless.

Breaking gossip:
Kvyat is being considered for Williams in 2018. Guess they have an ample supply of spare chassis and parts.

So at Williams we've potentially got:
- "My eyes no longer line up" Massa - "I only smile when I get a 3rd degree burn" Di resta - "I've only got one working arm" Kubica - "I crash a lot and wear a perpetual scowl" Kvyat Awesome... I'd still go for the one armed bandit, just on marketing grounds and the fact he was damn talented... Last edited by Deschodt; 11-03-2017 at 12:17 PM.. |

Ok so that cracked me up:
"Lewis Hamilton admits he would gladly accept a knighthood if it comes during the Queen's New Year's Honours list after the Briton etched his name in the record books as the country's most decorated racing driver by sealing a fourth World Championship at the Mexico Grand Prix on Sunday." Can you imaging calling him Sir Lewis ? |

I think you only have to do that if you're a Brit!

Ferrari could quit Formula 1 over new proposals by Liberty Media - BBC Sport
nascar style standard engine format apparently broached by Liberty. Seems Ferrari are not playing.
