I am suprised to see this thread pop its head up again.
Am sad to say that the V8 is gone. The decision to switch was a tough one. As much as I want to club race in GT3, I will miss the feeling of close to 500Hp. Sure a turbo motor can be fast but just not the same. Will probably never again own a car with the fun factor of the V8 911. Yes the Porsche powered car will probably be a little faster on the track as I am removing 300 plus Lbs in the form of lighter motor, no radiator system, fiberglass fenders, etc, but will still not be the same. To have a guy in a new GT3 car come up and ask you how you pulled him or run down a new turbo in the straights is a rush. I will not miss the less than steller reliablity of the V8, Chevy did not build their motors to be race capable from the factory. Had my share of issues. Anyhow on to the next chapter. Motor was built by Jarvis Tech, it is a 3.126 with 3.0 liter crank, 3.3 turbo jugs, Cosworth rods and piston, custom Electromotive fuel injection with crank fire twin plug, etc. Dynoed at 325Hp and 256Ft/Lb of torque. Should have it up and running in a couple of weeks. Should be fast but...not the same. |

Mike,
Like your car, I too considered the 928 motor for the 911 but deminsionally it is just not possible. Maybe if you are willing to modify body , which I wasn't. Also what is the weight of the 928, I was thinking it is heavier than the aluminiun headed Chevy. Keith |

The 928 motor is all aluminum. oil pan, block, heads, as well as the Black Widow Spider raping the engine it sits on as it screems off the tac for mercy!
Mine happens to be a 1980 euro spec "S" version. Extremely under rated at 300 hp in stock trim. So not only is the 914 your worse night mare in the twisties, it's now out pulling you in a line. No Need to check your mirror. Were way beyond that....

Can everybody scream out "butcher!" at the man who put a 928 V8 in his 914. Or are 914s not worthy of a Porsche snob's pity?
Good job, Rich. That motor looks great in the 914 engine compartment. |

Keith,
what water pump part number did you use? Do you have any pix of it or the mounting? I imagine that the rest of your v8 parts are gone but if not..... are you selling them? steve |

Hi H2O,
I used an electric Mezier Heavy Duty water pump. I would not suggest this pump. I tested the pump myself and it did not produce the flow or the pressure advertised. Stewart make what looks like a really nice pump, would talk to some at Stewart Pumps and make them promise that it flows what is advertised. Really need a solid 50 to 60 gallon per minute minimum, circle track guys expect around 115 gallons per hour. If I were to do again I would either use one of the conversion pumps or go ahead and modify the body to accept a factory style pump. If you plan to use a dry sump system like I did you are stuck with factory style or electric. The only parts I have left is a modified factory gas tank and a 915 flywheel for a pre-86 chevy motor. 125.00 for tank 75.00 for flywheel Happy to give any advice you need, I truly enjoyed the car and my build another in the future. Hey sam - do you think we can put a moral issue spin on this thread?
I think it's beyond me but if the both of us do a tag-team?

This thread has always been here. It will remain after we are all dead and gone. This thread is like a car accident. When you see it, you can't help yourself. You have to look.
I check in once in a while to see how the threads doing, you know to catch up. Has the thread been married, divorced, has it spawned any kids. Now that I have said hello, I can go back to my regular life. Make no mistake however, IT will always be lurking!
