I have been retired for ~13 years. The first 6 or 7 were busier than when I worked. Last few I finally figured how to mix leasure in. It is great.

I was in PA over Xmas and it was like 6 degrees, and in CA it was 60. I grew up in Boston and looking at your snow and temps this last week (shudder). , I like sweeping my driveway when its 60/70 in January.

Texas has very high RE taxes and sales tax, but no income tax. Old people get an exemption from paying school taxes. If you want to live rural, you can get a "farm" and get an AG exemption. You have to make and sell hay with part of your land or raise farm animals.
