What is this?
Today I was driving up the mountain at about 55mph. Laying in the middle of the road was what looked like a quaint stick made adirondack stool of some sort.
I swerved around it and kept driving, but, curiosity got the best of me, so I went back and got it. As I got closer, I noticed it wasn't some arts and crafts wooden stool- it was a heavy duty stand of some sort. It weighs about 40-50 lbs, and would have DESTROYED the front end of a car had someone hit it. I daringly stepped out in traffic to retrieve it. "You're welcome" I laughingly yelled at passerby cars in a Bill Murray voice as I got it. So, what is it? There are three tubes, one can of what looks like flux, and a large hook. The top section has a tightening bolt to secure something into it. My original thought was a fishing stool, but, now I'm thinking welding stand of some sort? Thoughts? |

Looks like something a welder would use that fell off the truck.

The pipes and hook is for holding tools.
Something to do with blacksmiths? Shoeing horses? Something fits in the top and the t-handle holds it in place.

It is a part that fell off a UFO. The Aliens will be looking for it. Maybe they will give you a reward?

By any chance, did the OP see any coyotes in the vicinity? Maybe at the bottom of a nearby cliff?

Go back and look for the anvil....those babies are bringing really good money these days with that TV show "Forged in Fire" going strong. I'm not looking for an anvil, just looking at them for $400-$900 each.

A dollar a pound is a very good deal for a good quality anvil that hasn't been welded and is in decent shape. Take a hammer with you if you are looking at used and hit it. It should ring when struck.
I picked a good quality 125# anvil that was made in England about 10 years ago for around $80. Cannot remember the manufacturer. Except for some surface rust is is in new condition. I think the pot on the stand isn't flux but more than likely wax.

Given where you live, its almost certainly a stand that a farrier would use for his tools/anvil. Anvil probably down the road a piece
