I was 9. I loved 1968. I had older brothers and sisters who were starting to dip their toes into the culture and they invested in me their knowledge and enthusiasm for the world that was changing quickly around us. Of course, there was a dark side, but there was also a good side. I remember seeing a huge billboard for the 1969 RS Camaro, and just being blown away. The radio was full of great music, and everyone knew all the good songs. As a kid, I would wander away from the house in the morning, come home in time for dinner and then leave again till it was dark or bedtime...

This is why I started drawing my SS just as soon as possible, in my case at 62. So far, I have drawn out about what I "contributed" and am now working on the interest! If it goes bust later, that will be some millennial's problem. I basically agree with Tabs, we the collective United States are likely headed for hell in a handbasket! The good news is that I probably won't be alive to have to deal with it! My son and his family will, but each generation has it's own set of dilemmas to work through.
Well there are some smart people on the Pelican after all. This is true...

3 yeas old, but one of my first memories involves riding in my Aunt Betty's new red convertible firebird while singing "down Town".

There are a lot of young punks on this board...
Some great books:
The Greatest Salesman in the World by Og Mandino
2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke
MAD Magazine. What, me worry?

Some epic music was being made by Cream, Tull, Zeppelin, Beatles, Hendrix, Donovan. The list goes on and on. I remember buying many of these albums, grabbing the headphones and cranking it up. Prolly why my hearing is what it is today.

I told my friends, sell what you need to sell by 2020.

2022? I like your optimism.

I love his how to drive fast book. In corners, while ice racing in a 911, it diagrams how to enter backwards.

Probably takes a little practice.

When the back end would break in a tight corner, Quick Vic would let go of the wheel and let it spin to center lock, then he would grab it and throw on opposite lock.

I have seen videos of a lot of cars doing a 180 spin around a hairpin, but never a 911.

Amazing time - my parents talk about that era a lot and I can see why.

I was not even a thought in ‘68.

In 68 I was 13 and delivered the Wash Post for 2 yrs, every morning about 3 am. My Dad told me that I had better deliver the first paper every morning to him first thing. He went to work at 6am.

He also wanted me to read the front page, just the front page everyday so that I would know what was happening in my world. I'd sit under my streetlight and read the headlines. Same streetlight that we used for home point for Hide and Seek.

It was a great time to be a kid. And man did we have some good jams and cool cars.
