Aftermarket seats...

The C6 Z06 is deal given some of its exotic parts.

The C5 Z06; it has be the style you want, an aftermarket modified car will out perform the stock C5 Z06.

The C6 Z06 represents something different in its titanium and composite construction, lower CG from lighter upper body, lower CG from dry sump engine, forged titanium engine internals etc... These are not cheap to beat from the aftermarket.

Although it won't have the punch of a C6 Z06, you can get a similar raw feel from a 2010+ Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

I've had my C6 Z06 since 2015. It doesn't take much to spin the rear wheels. I spent Friday at the track (Mosport) with the Porsche club. They hate me .
It's not the best handling car but in a straight line that's another story.
The seats are o/k, the C7 interior is much nicer. I've taken long trips, the transmission tunnel gives off a lot of heat after a couple of hours.
I had the valve guides replaced 2 years ago, and last fall I had the bearings and rings replaced after spinning a main bearing. Thankfully it wasn't Porsche engine pricing.
It's a fun car to drive.

So, I sort of stumbled into a '11 Z06/Z07 (magnetic shocks, ceramic brakes, upgraded radiator, diff and trans cooler) within driving distance. It is owned by a 72 year old fella and has 1,500 (not 15,000) miles on it. Half of window sticker should buy it. I need to decide by tomorrow or risk opportunity lost...

I hope you didn’t come here expecting to be talked out of it....

What does that equate to, $35k? In that range it’s a no brainer, you could turn it for a profit easily if desired.

It’s options added over $20k to base price...so add $10k.

To me, it looks really good. The trouble for me is that there are so many terrific cars for that money. I’m sure we could all list an arm’s length

There is NOTHING at the price that could hold a candle to that car... just saying.

I think that statement is accurate (or pretty close)...but there are still a lot of great cars a guy can buy for that money.

GM is way down on my list of possible purchases.
The company did not have the brains (Don't blame the UAW, the GM management sold GM's future to pay for their profit) to keep Oldsmobile and Pontiac profitable. Really? The company with Cutlass 442 and the Trans Am ?
The Corvette currently offers a great bang for the buck. But no, thanks.

Should be impressive...but it seems like nearly every car rolling off assembly lines everywhere are impressive in some way or several. The corvette crowd is murmuring about the C8 being a potential problem for F-car sales. Uhh, not likely but the spirit is appreciated.

The camouflage on the test mules is impressive if nothing else.

Hmm, wonder if you could get that camo wrap? Looks cool in a weird way...
Nope..no Government Motors cars for me. Yeah I know...I'm being political.

Test drove this GT2RS last week. Drips with impressiveness...

How long to hold a grudge?

I felt the same way not too long ago.

Pretty long time. In a traditional bankruptcy, assets are sold. First in line for a share of the money are bond holders. If enough for them to be paid off, then stockholders.

With the Government takeover, these people got nothing but worthless stock & bonds. They could be selling new 'Vettes for $10,000 and I wouldn't buy one.

But "German" cars are okay.... ahhh the joy of selective moral outrage. Should we not lift the veil on Ferdinan's affiliations.

My God, I think you could drive the whole track in one gear, the engine was that flexible, with down low grunt and a willingness to rev. Pretty impressive car.

Sorry, but most consumers forgot the 442 and Trans-Am 30 years ago. And let's be real, they weren't great cars even when new. I do agree that GM management killed themselves, but not for the reason you suggest. Their business model of selling damn near the exact same car under a variety of brand names was not sustainable, nor could they sufficiently differentiate their brands under this business model. Hence the death of Oldsmobile, Saturn, Pontiac, and Saab, which GM bled to death then saddled with crappy platforms.

The Z06 has the brake cooling ducts on the side.

Mesh screen intakes on the front instead of plastic plugs.

That car also has the Z06 logo on the fender.

He must have modified it if running a track in one gear, or a very narrow tight track.

Second is 44MPH-69MPH with stock cam and gearing.
