Thanks John,
Right up until my arm starts hurting anyway. The rest of the time it pretty much sucks!

jsveb 05-18-2011 05:02 PM

That is simply beautiful. Seriously impressed.

Progress!
The bumpers are finally starting to look like something useful, worthy of bolting onto a Porsche anyway.

Finally I am finished painting... the body.
In the photos below the bumpers have only a couple bolts holding them on but you get the idea. Once I have the front oil cooler mounted and some brackets and such painted, I will make them more permanently installed.
I plan to continue to post my progress here but it's gonna be slow going now... the $ faucet has slowed to a trickle! ;)

Overall, I'm extremely happy with the final result. It turned out way better than I expected but was a tremendous amount of work. It's finally starting to sink in... I have a Porsche 911 sitting in my garage!

I LOVE IT!

Thanks all for following along and stay tuned for further updates as I get closer to turning the key. Got 3 more years to spare?

I must admit, I was a bit concerned about how the "R" taillights would look on a short hood but I think it works well on this car. I think the reflector delete is the key.

First class job!

I'm very close to laying down colour now too. I hope it turns out as nice!

vas930 07-19-2011 04:14 PM

That thing is just a HONEY.
Well done. Great job.

911lvr 07-20-2011 05:48 AM

very nice work.

blee 07-20-2011 06:50 AM

It's all "down-hill" now brother. Throw on the shiny bits and off you go. Well done.

78SCRSMAN 07-23-2011 07:48 PM

Thanks for all of the support, it really keeps me going. I'm very glad to be moving on to something else. The other day I began applying the hand glaze and WOW, what a difference. The surface was smooth before but now it totally has the wet look to it. It also feels very soft to the touch now.

I'll keep the updates coming every few months or so just to show my progress. My upcoming plans include: front oil cooler and lines, front and rear lighting, more wiring, some new vinyl for the interior (A and B pillars etc.), fuel tank mods and oil tank install.

Looking better all the time Derek, I wish I had the skills, (and patience, heeh) to put one together from pieces,

78SCRSMAN 09-27-2011 07:27 PM

Quick update: I've got the front bumper finished now (How do you like my splitter?) and the rear is next for lighting and license plate bracket. I also have some suspension bits installed and am working on the interior vinyl and dash. The chassis is gaining weight now and is getting harder and harder to move around. It won't be long til it will need to be on the ground.

Cheers

Very nice!

Fishcop 09-27-2011 08:14 PM

Looking great!

My market never got the 'sugar scoops', so I find them odd...

Hey Mark, how's your resto coming along?

drcoastline 09-28-2011 04:01 AM

Wow really nice work. Looks great.

DaddyGlenn 09-28-2011 09:22 AM

This is gonna be one of the nicest cars out there!

D911SC 09-28-2011 03:34 PM

I've said it before - this is one of the nicest projects I've seen.

I really love the front end, there is nothing I don't like about it.

What really makes this car special for me is the choice of color, especially the slightly darker stripes.

Pity I am on the other side of the globe, love to see it in person.

Great Stuff

I'm not a big fan of grays, but this car is gorgeous! I think it even looks better than the factory special. Keep up the great work.

First time I saw this thread. Great work and the fact that you are doing it yourself makes it that much greater.

I am doing all my work on my project, including paint, in my garage.

Keep up the progress pictures.

Is your rotisserie just 2 engine stands, modified and bolted together?

Brendon

Yes, the rotisserie is two stands and some scrap steel.
Thanks, BTW. After calling some different locksmiths around, I even decided to re-key my own locks. With only a few exceptions, I will have done it all.

I really appreciate all of the positive feedback Pelicanites. Thanks!

Here's the basis on my project http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/567389-new-member-930-project.html. I will be jumping in on it soon, about finished with the house projects and fall is here.

Looks like I need to pick up a few engine stands first. ;)
