Finally got warm enough to evacuate and charge...the new Griffiths system works great!

I know it’s a bit antithetical to want AC in one of these cars, but it sure was nice over the 90 degree weekend...even the missus tagged along!

Several small projects since my last update, but mostly have been enjoying driving it since getting it back from the shop that installed the windshield and dash.

Particularly enjoyed this trip through southern Indiana to celebrated my Dad's 77th birthday. My brother brought his 280Z down, and we had a great day of touring...

I'm going to try like hell to get a cruise through Brown Co and the HNF in general before the leave fall off and go brown.
I'll let you know if/when I do.

Great looking lineup!

If you live where the temps are regularly 90 and up, the AC upgrade is simply the best project you will ever do to make the car more enjoyable. Especially if you like to have your wife with you on trips.

I have the full Griffith's system. The only parts left that are from the factory is the front and rear condenser in my car. His fan switch and temp controller are great. I love the temp switch in that I can turn it all the way down, and then to the OFF position for the condenser. I can run just the fan and have it blow on me in hurricane mode while I am on the autocross track or the race track.

And to drive the car on a 100+ degree day and have to turn the AC back up in temperature because I feel cold is just wonderful.

Quasimoto 10-21-2020 08:04 AM

I agree with that, and essentially replaced every wetted part in the system, and added the fender well condensers, temp switch and variable speed fan control. Griff was a big help talking me off the ledge when I got stuck a couple of times... :)

I didn’t appreciate the massive hit to the budget, but I’m glad it’s operational.

Quasimoto 10-21-2020 08:05 AM

Don’t need it much in these Fall days though...

Noticed that you swapped out your Fuchs

Quasimoto 10-21-2020 08:31 AM

Yes, reliving a childhood dream of having a widebody Porsche on “Speedlines”. Wrong era and they are actually RH, but they make a great second set of wheels when I want to swap them around...

megerian 10-21-2020 08:55 AM

We have similar tastes - I love my fuchs and would never swap them out, but if I had to, speedlines or Ruf would be acceptable alternatives

Quasimoto 10-21-2020 09:11 AM

I really waffled between those two wheels when looking for a second set...

Looking back at things, I've done all these projects completely out of sequence, but probably wouldn't change a thing. It's been awesome to drive and share with other people along the way.

Trans out now for refresh, and will be doing my best to do a few "while it's out" before driving season comes back around.

Thanks again all for the info and encouragement, this is a great place!

Aside from an awesome car, that’s an awesome wall decal. I’m Jealous.

Did a big list of “while it’s out” things after dropping of the 915 at FedEx. That was a little overwhelming, so today I chose something simple and quick to get some traction...

(Screw is just there to check the thread)

Not moving nearly as fast as the other first timers that are posting, but maintaining forward progress. Got all the money out of that clutch...disc was around 6.2mm uncompressed.

Next up is Triangle of Death and Oil Cooler seals. Also Fuel lines and a few other minor things.

Tempted to let sleeping dogs lie in the ToD, but reading all the threads has encouraged me to take appropriate measures.

Hadn’t planned to do the tins, but some of my parts have been weather delayed, so off they go.

Thanks, that was a splurge when I was cleaning up the garage and making the transition from bikes to cars. Admittedly, I grew up in the 70’s when wall murals were cool... :)

close that big hole in tin from the air pump

Quasimoto 02-16-2021 01:03 AM

Sorry, not sure which hole you are talking about?
