I’m not a fan of “powder coat on everything” but these parts seemed a good fit, especially since my go to place is very detail oriented.

They do great hole masking and thickness control to avoid the plastic candy effect.

Best part...only $150 for this batch.

$150 seems like a pretty good deal, especially if also detail oriented.
Would you mind sharing your “go to” Powder coater?

Thanks!

Those are definitely parts you want powder coated.

Some good news! CMS has my gearbox town down and inspected. No major issues beyond synchros, a couple of spun bearings and worn plates. 5th gear has a bad wear pattern that was causing the whine, so it will be replaced.

Now I gotta get the tunnel fuel lines in and a few things cleaned up before it comes back...

That is good news. Please post an update once you get the box back from CMS. I'm looking for a place to send mine off eventually for a checkup.

Clewett 8mm wires in the stock 1984 looms. As mentioned in other threads, it requires drilling the plastic pieces out, and the 5&6 wires are a bit long but it works.

Doing some small projects while waiting for the gearbox to arrive. Repaired the JPT connectors on the crank sensor harness. One had cracked and been JB welded together at some point in it’s past...

Meanwhile the 915 showed up this week.

Nice. That transmission looks so clean with new hardware and ground strap. Looking good.

Lump is back in and the new fuel lines checked okay from stem to stern...really happy about that!

You're almost there!

Hey, have enjoyed the posts. I am pretty close to you in Cincinnati, OH and wonder why you chose to ship to CMS for your transmission rebuild. I have one in my future and would love you opinion, having been through this recently.

Thanks and hope to meet in person some day.

I don’t have any Porsche cred, so you’ll have to take my thoughts with a grain of salt... :)

This is my first air cooled car, so I relied on a couple of first hand recommendations and reading of threads on the internet. There were probably shops closer/cheaper than CMS, but I didn’t have a first hand recommendation for one.

We do get over to Ohio and NE Kentucky a bit, so maybe we’ll cross paths.

Well drat...clutch adjustment in spec, but at the end of the sleeve travel. Guess I will have to adjust the clevis at the pedal box?

Still a few things to fettle, but it’s back on the road ...

Hell yeah!!!

Sometimes you need to do something small to declare a minor victory. JWest headlight relay installed while contemplating how to solve an aggravating intermittent no-start...

Mini-victories keep projects moving forward and often can jump-start waning motivation.
