Looking for a step by step guide for 3.6 engine installation into an SC
With any luck my engine will be back soon after complete rebuild.
This is for a previously installed 3.6 swap into my SC. I'm researching whether or not I should attempt this install myself or find a shop in town to install. I keep hearing how easy it is but I've gotten so close I'm worried about screwing it up myself. The engine has been in the car running prior to the bearing issue so it should just be plug and play. At minimum I'll understand how the install works and I'll be able to have an informed conversation with whomever does it. Anyone have specific directions with pics and or videos? Thanks

I'm confused, is this a reinstall of a previously installed/swapped 3.6
in your SC? If it was previously installed/swapped correctly to replace the original 3.0, it should just be a nuts and bolts job.

This is a reinstall of a previously swapped 3.6 in my SC. Yes I would think it should be nuts and bolts job but like everything I take on, becomes overly complicated for my abilities! So that's why I'm trying to dig into the details of the install. Thanks

It does sound like the engine was already in the car so reinstall it not hard to do, wires are color coded white to white green to green etc. you can look it up online
|

+2 for Steve Timmins. I've known him for 20+ years and has probably put together more 3.6 conversion kits than anyone else.

Guys, he doesn't need a conversion kit. Engine was already in the car.
JonT - Just install step by step and ask questions as you go, the answers on this site show up in minutes, if not seconds. Just take your time and you can easily do it.

Here's my engine install/removal checklist for a 3.6L and my '74 911. I can almost guarantee that your's will not match mine 100%, but maybe a good place to start?

You should really consult with folks who have done hundreds of them.
Steve Weiner @ Rennsport Systems and Jeff Gamroth @ Rothsport did mine and attended to every detail. And there are A LOT of details. The excellence is in the small stuff. Other thing to think about is the fact that with a 3.6 L motor, you will overwhelm the brakes and the suspension. So there are a few things to do to get that balance of power- braking - and handling back as Porsche intended. That said, once it is done, it is will have you laughing maniacally and grinning ear to ear. I've had mine for 13 years and it is still a hoot. Nic
