what caliper is this?

Hello,

I have a 72 911 that is somewhat of a Frankenstein. The front wheels have been upgraded to 16 inch Fuchs because the suspension was upgraded such that it needs 16 inch wheels to fit the bottom of the shocks. I want to get new brake pads but unsure what ATE caliper this is from.

The size of the caliper is 6 inches top to bottom. The size of the rotor is 11 inches vented.

So is this original 72? or later like SC brake caliper?

That's an A type or possibly a wide A, The A was used on the front of Carrera and SC thru '83, An A uses a 20mm thick rotor a wide A uses a 24mm thick rotor. The wide A was used on the front of Carrera from '84 thru '89

All A's use the same size pads, but later ones have brake pad sensor provisions, On yours just ignore that, so yes get any pad for an SC or Carrera, any year from '76 up

Many thanks.

I just measured and it is 24mm thick rotor. Would Ferodo pads be the grabby type? or something else ?

Also, is there a bigger master cylinder that should go along with the bigger caliper? This 72 has no booster so not sure if the stock Carrera master cylinder would fit.

OK so wide A from an '84 up 3.2 Carrera, There isn't really a bigger m/c for your setup, decades ago there was an 20.6 That was great, Porsche # 901.355.012.04 or
ATE # 3.2120 - 3901.3 But I haven't seen one in 30-40years

You could fit an ATE ATE (ports face left) # 03-2123-3402.3 but it's a 23.8mm and makes the pedal effort go through the roof, some racers like it though because you get great modulation w/ it

I think I'll stick with the old MC. It is the pedal effort I'm trying to decrease, not increase.
