Do I have the ROW 3.2?
Hi guys,
Quick question, I have a 1985 3.2, chassis WP0ZZZ91ZFS** Engine sais 930.101.104.5R So I assume it's a ROW version with the higher compression? But it's also an American imported car, with the American bumpers, taillights and head lights, so I was wondering if it's a 930/20 or 930/21 as I'm not sure how that works... Any thoughts? |

Some things could have been changed from the RoW car when it was federalized into the US. The bumper shocks, headlights and tail lights are pretty easy to change to the US type. There are some things that likely were not changed, however, and they would have been somewhat difficult and/or costly to do.
Some things to check for: - fender mounted repeater signal lights - the VIN mounted to the dash near the driver A-pillar - the type of VIN plate mounted in the trunk

Things to check;
- ROW does not have a catalytic converter - ROW does not have a lambdasonde - ROW does have a rear fog light (switch) - ROW has amber rear light, US red - ROW does not have side lights in the front bumper and rear light clusters - ROW does have side repeaters - ROW does not have the metal plate with the VIN in the A-pilar - ROW does have an aluminium plate with the VIN number near the color code sticker - ROW has 930-20 engine (high CR and 231 HP) US has the 930-21 engine (lower CR and 217 HP) - ROW has KM/H speedo US has MP/H speedo - US has shift up light in tacho - Most US cars have AC and most ROW specs cars of that age do not You should be able to determine if yours is a ROW or US spec now :-) |

Do the 911s carry both VINs like a US 928? On the 928 the chassis is stamped with WP0ZZZ while the A-pillar and door sticker will have the US designation WP0JB0 or similar. I guess I can look at my 911 when I get home to confirm if no one knows off hand.

Yes. All 911 bodies have the zzz near smugglers box and ‘true’ vin on a pillar and door sticker.

So the question is what did the OP mean when they specified "Chassis" number ZZZ. if they were getting this from the smugglers box area it doesn't indicate that it is or isn't a ROW car. |

My ‘78 ROW has an import plate on the door sill from when it arrived in the US.
Shows who brought it in and other info.

Just curious all the places to look for a row. On mine I have a metal door plate, on window pillar above dash, and on frunk lid (paper sticker). I guess I haven’t looked elsewhere.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I don't get it.. it has MPH speedo, it has a cat with lambda, it has US bumpers (rear was replaced, so that's why it's not US), it has the US rear lights. Front lights were also replaced so not sure what those were On the other hand... it has a ROW vin, it has side markers... So what is it? ![]() ![]() |

That VIN plate behind the windshield is not an original item. Looks like someone made that and put it there. Definitely a ROW car that was Federalized.

Tranny oil cooler seals the deal. Euro 3.2, but changed other stuff so it could be imported to US (changed in US).
