I like this build and watch a few of your youtube episodes. We chatted once at luft. I appreciate your intention to go your own way and learn as you go.
IMO you're going to regret the backwards flare thing. It's interesting and catches the eye now because it's different, but I think you'll find it in the uncanny valley after a while. That's when something looks off because it's close but not quite right and your brain rejects it. The 911 shape is burnt into your brain, you can probably sketch it with your eyes closed. Subtly different shapes will just look kit-car funky when you get it all glossy. Especially when you park it next to your grey one. It's your build, but to me the blasphemy part is the new drivetrain and modern tech. Taking the air-cooled out of longhood S chassis is the ultimate in purist hell. Shaving gutters and putting bigger arches on takes the porsche lines and makes them better and isn't the blasphemous part. Especially because you're going with the RSR style and plates. My 2 cents. |

I’ve tried to keep it as intact as possible, but it’s hard. I’ll be looking forward to beefing it back up with lead filler.

I have been keeping light touch with this thread and noticed your plan to use a rear fender on the fronts. Not something I would do but if you do proceed with this then have you checked to make sure the front edge of a door won't interfere with the fender when it's opened?

What I think is a larger problem is the radius of the rear arch. Specifically, look at the relationship of the wheel to arch from 10:00 to 2:00. The rear arch is not symmetrical and would, in this instance, slope down towards the front. I feel that will be much more difficult to pull off than trimming and blending the arch at the base of the A-pillar. I'm interested to see how this plays out.

To be fair, ever look at "correct" IROC front flares? Not symmetrical at all.

REALLY fun video today. I got to work with the cutest little old man on machining my adapter plate, Chris from Outfront Motorsports came by to help me strip my engine of all the unnecessary bits, and Dave Bouzaglou from TRE Motorsports came by to help me work on flares and getting my pedal assemblies to fit.

REWIRING THE CAR: I’m saying “Re-wiring” but I should just say “wiring”.
The car was a gutted racecar, so there aren’t any wires to begin with. I just did a little unboxing video for my YouTube channel, and took a few stills for you guys. The kit is very nicely organized and thought out, and appears to be very user-friendly, even for a wiring newbie like me. American Autowire has a kit for the Volkswagen bug, but nothing for an early 911, unfortunately. This kit was $519 from Summit. Obviously, if you are doing a stock, or period correct install, then I highly recommend the replacement harnesses from Restoration Design, which are first rate. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looks like a very nice kit... Do you forsee any hiccups with it? I'm looking to rewire mine too and wouldn't mind saving a little money. OK a lot.....
