I'll try to do a better job documenting the install by taking pics with my phone as well as shooting video with the Canon.

On the other hand, I don't enjoy and avoid informational or instructional videos. Not that those don't have value, but I usually hit the fast forward to get the info I'm after. Sorry, I am old school that way. I don't watch TV news either. For example your posts #67 and 93 are great AFAIK. JMHO. I do want to follow your build, as I find it interesting.

I started working on attempting to modify the racing front end back to a semi-stock looking form, so I could fit a front bumper and a stock hood with a hood latch:

Saw your vid on YouTube. The air intake is nice, keep it. What I suggest is have the center air inlet route air into the front fenders. Mount a pair of radiators in the fenders, similar to Pete WEVO build. The front part of the fenders gets sealed off, connected to the center intake and the rads. This front part forms a perfect expansion chamber. By Bernoulli’s law, the high velocity incoming air enters the expansion chamber, slows down and increases static pressure. It’s this static pressure that actually creates the force to drive the air through the radiators. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro | ||

The way you have this routed would force a major rerouting of the existing engineering. I'm trying my best not to do that.

Basically, all you have left to do, is get some sheet metal, cut them to the vertical shape of the inside the fenders, cut an exit hole in them, and mount the radiators to them. All you really have to do is get some foam so these sheet metal parts fit snugly under the fender. You're closer to mounting the rads than I am, because in my case, I need to make molded fiberglass ducts to route air to the rads, and duct the exhaust down, under the wheels. Because you've got the center duct, that's about 3/4 of the work right there. If you look at Pete's build right here, he's running a pair of custom 16x9 radiators, that's 144" per side, or total of 288 inches or area, and he's proven that area works, even with less than ideal ducting. Paint Stripping!

I don't generally like to do a lot of "time lapse" for my restoration videos, but watching paint remover work at 20x speed is REALLY cool!

Here are some pics of the paint strippage, including some mystery holes in the roof that don’t seem to have a purpose. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Great progress, those holes are probably old repairs from a dent puller.

That’s what I thought as well… But there is zero evidence of any dent. Besides… You can access it from the underside. No need for a dent puller. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I used an 80 grit DA and this LPS3 product recommended by John Benton to get a smooth, waxy protective finish. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's getting there! Still have to do the floors on the other side, and I have a couple more surprises, but it's coming along well!

Another response to say I enjoy your post here as well as your youtube videos. Keep it up. Can't wait to see your final results and learn about the performance of the finished car and if you still feel it stirs the soul when driving. The price of that engine was certainly right!

[BUILD THREAD] The 69 911s Blasphemy Build - LASTERN

My adapter plate hasn’t arrived yet, so I fabbed up some 1” square tube “standoffs” which are the same width as the adapter plate. Here is a Subaru EZ30 flat 6 “mated” to a 996 (g96) transmission. I rolled it under just to see where everything lines up, and have a think about engine and transmission mounts. TONS of room for activities (read: twin turbos) in the back! Good progress for the day! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
