What Discontinued / NLA (Genuine) Parts Do You Want To See Remade?
We had a nice meeting with Porsche Classic yesterday and wanted to get some thoughts from our community:
What NLA / Discontinued (Genuine) parts do you want to see remade? We'll pitch your ideas to them in meetings down the line. Thanks. |

Interior panels. Door cards, rear 1/4 panels, pressure plate for the 968. Dashboards for the 944/968 cars. Things that "rot" and no matter how hard you search, you can't find a part in great shape.
I'm told that if Porsche receives three requests in a year, they start to consider re-introducing NLA parts. Get on it people. Right here: https://contact.porsche.com/usa/accessoriesandservices/classic/genuineparts/notesonavailability/

How about decent round relays? For the price charged, they shouldn't be garbage. As it is, they're 10x the price of a decent mini-relay like a Panasonic, and 1/10 the quality.
I removed most of my relays (EFI) - but guys running CIS 930s have several NLA relays (overboost, speed etc) they have to scrounge around for if they fail.

These and other electrical stuff have been discussed in the meetings Independent shops have been having with them. The issue is two fold. Bosch no longer has the tooling and to remanufacrure them they need a pile of cores to build on. I believe some efforts are being made on the two parts you mention with some US companies trying to help get a nice large pile of cores.

A quality made coil for a Carrera. Right now the coil Porsche dealers sell is the silver Bosch. It is pure junk, made in Brazil. I had to find a replacement coil from a scrap yard and I am running a 35 year old coil.
Also the Bowden cable for the Cruise control unit for the Carrera. Mine broke, and now I have one from a used parts place, and the plastic tabs that hold it in place are all broken, so I have three cable ties holding it in place. Let me know when they become available. I will order them.

absolute garbage and so many of their cars still run on these coils that we have to scrounge. This has been a complaint going on decades now. silver Brazilian coils are absolute crap.

Not a 911 part.HOWEVER there are hundreds of 924s/Carreras & turbos, which can be rendered useless if this part fails.
Porsche 924 Turbo GT GTS GTR Pulse Sender 93160602100 Only solved by fitting a Mittelmotor dizzy.Theres money to be made here if someone can figure out the specifications.JFI Porsche & Siemens have no records of specs.......... |

Is this the fatty steering wheel? (my world ends at 1973...., but I saw this on Eckert). I think have some 1974+ door caps, what color? Did you need the complete midnight carpet kit, or just pieces. Cheers, E

1) Original Certified Paint Colours !
PPG, GLASURIT, SIKKENS, RM have their formulas ... but if you compare them you ALWAYS have different colours. 2) Coils P.S. On the Porsche site there is a form to ask for NLA parts to be reproduced ... I used it many years ago and the catalog part requested is still NLA ! https://contact.porsche.com/usa/accessoriesandservices/classic/genuineparts/notesonavailability/ Last edited by fizeus; 09-10-2019 at 02:29 PM.. |

Nothing. From what I've seen, and had to "restore," the quality of Porsche Classic parts is wanting at best. Please tell them to focus on creating quality parts first, then looking at what can be made next.
