Thanks guys. I got stuck in yesterday for a few hours and started to try to find homes for all the loose wires. The more I looked and the more crappy tape I removed, the more reasons I found to further consider a brand new harness. Lots of split wires and wires poorly joined. It's a fire waiting to happen I reckon.
Also pulled out this rainbow coloured harness that was barely connected to anything. Assume that was related to the radio that the previous owner attempted to install. Argh!

Yikes! That is scary stuff.

I apologize... I completely forgot about my promise to snap so pics. I took these for you but I'm not sure how useful they are.

Let me know if you want different views/angles.

Facing the trunk from the front of the car - right side. This is the area behind the gauges on a left-hand drive car.


Middle of the trunk behind fresh air blower plenum. I have the alarm module disconnected.


Left side. The white wire is not normally there. (that's the wire for my radar detector). You can get a sense for how the factory did their wiring sheaths.
