Engine part identification needed!

Hey guys it's been awhile, I've recently dropped my engine to work on the dreaded oil leaks and just a general overall cleaning and I have this part that I have no idea what it is - its coming off the main engine harness and plugs into the driver side top part of the engine - see pics below.

Can anyone tell me what this is? part number?

The rubber cover is so brittle its breaking, figure it needs to be replaced and maybe the part as well...just not sure.

Thermo-time switch for the cold start injector. The boot is part of the loom, but maybe Timmy2 has the boot separately.

Just run without the boot, the terminals should have a rubber sleeve covering the exposed elbows when installed.
Porsche stopped installing the boot on later years.
I do have them if you absolutely want one, but you have to cut off the terminals to install it.

excellent thank you guys! I'll just leave it as is so I don't have to put new terminals on AND dang! That's an expensive little part!!! $227 here on Pelican

I assume one terminal connector per side, does it matter which connector goes on which side? I got a little over zealous pulling it off and lost which wire was which side.

I think it might matter, my connectors were different sizes, so the small wired clip only goes on one. Red wire on bigger terminal (1,2,3 side on mine), yellow wire on smaller terminal. No boot on my 78.

Porsche occasionally makes nearby connectors a different size, realizing some of us out there are Dumkopfs. The fuel pump leads are that way, thank heavens.
