It sounds like Rothsport is a top end race shop. The upside value is that you will not get screwed around by a low end shop. They have a reputation and bigger whales to fry. Get in, get out, take the hit, and start driving the car.

You've done a great job cleaning it. What a headfirst dive into 911 ownership! I love it.

What is your prior background in cars? Does not sound like your first rodeo.

Does the car run? What exactly do you need a shop to do?

What you have there is a blank slate and a great starting point. If I were you I'd get it running right and legal as cheaply as possible and try to put a few hundred miles on it before making too many decisions about what to change.

Since the car is more than 25 years old, it is eligible to be registered as a "Special Purpose" car. cost is $100 plus a $12 plate (if you need it). You do this one time for the life of your ownership. No DEQ is required or needed.

ORS 805.210

"(1) The owner of a vehicle of special interest may apply to the Department of Transportation for permission to use special interest registration plates. To receive permission to use special interest registration plates the person must:
(a)
Maintain the vehicle of special interest as a collectors’ item and use the vehicle only for exhibitions, parades, club activities and similar uses but not use the vehicle primarily for the transportation of persons or property..."

Im going to go against the grain here and say that unless you are absolutely in love with at and are prepared to spend $10-15k at a moments notice to keep it running I'd sell it. Sure the market is down but you're still above water. Things get really expensive very quickly on these. Sorry to be a downer I'm speaking from experience.

IMHO, you should change the fluids, adjust the valves, check brakes/suspension, and drive it...unless the thing doesn't run or is problematic, why would you tear the EFI apart?

That's sweet car! I live in Portland too. Rothsport is a really neat place, and you should go there to check it out, but most people can't afford to have any work done there. There are a few more cost reasonable places in town depending on the type of work you want to do.

I have a lift and I live in Cedar Hills (SW Portland). If you're itching to get under it and give it a once over, you can come by my house, we can put it on the rack and check it out. Six feet apart of course

Does the car run now? If so, maybe the best way forward is to take it to one of the many qualified air cooled porsche shops in Portland and have them do a road worthy/safety inspection. If it was me, Marque Motors, Matrix Integrated, Heckmann Thiemann, A&P Specialties, come to mind. There are others as well.

You are a lucky man. That is a pretty car with some fantastic upgrades. You have done a fine job cleaning it from its condition when you took possession. Like your local 911 owners advise, take it to the world famous shop in Portland and have the guys there explain the car,with its upgrades, to you. If you are not familiar with the 911, one of the shop experts can take you for a ride and show you what this 911 can do. It will be well worth the cost.

Those look like 993tt "Big Red" calipers to me. They are conventional, i.e. not Monoblocs.

The monoblocs are, well... blockier (as per the later pic with the Ruf wheels) and the pins that the pads ride / slide on are visible from the outer faces of the calipers (also as per the later pic).

That is a good looking machine.

My $0.02: Drain/replace fluids (oil/gas), replace stuff to get it running/reliable and get it on the road. While I am not nuts about heavy modifications on these cars, yours appear to be tastefully done, and not in your face. After it is running: take it to a place that can do a general inspection on a hoist with you.

Coming from a perspective of "inherited" ---- these cars have a way at chipping away at your wallet very, VERY quickly. Especially if you're not careful. I could exemplify, but why bother: it's a Porsche, not a vintage honda civic.
