there is a piece that the hole does not exist, or I found a long tin piece that forgoes that smaller part all together for my spec car. very rare, but you never know what you might find in the classifieds with a WTB add.

Find a tin (or aluminum) can of the right size, cut down, fasten in.

Yes. I used a ball canning jar lid on my heater backdate. I sprayed it with flat black bbq paint and secured it with gasket maker. Less than $1 invested, it works great and doesn’t look too bad, the jar lid is the perfect size and is countersunk a little so it looks like it was meant for it.

clever, and I love clever!

did you use both pieces or just the flat cap portion? I used the bottom of beer cans to block off the heater inlet tubes at the body on my racer. i was drinking rolling rocks at the time if i recall.....

scroll though my build thread linked above for a number of mcgeiver type things that i thought i was clever with. shopvac attachment cowl to cabin intake, black & decker grinder sides for front rotor venting block off plates and the like.

I'm looking for this heat block off plate for left drivers side in metal. Does anyone have one laying around?
