915 sudden shift problem
Hello all,
I have an '84 with the 915 and since owning it haven't had any issues. Today driving home I was coming out of 5th gear and down shifting into 4th and had a little trouble getting it in 4th. This isn't abnormal. After coming to a stop I realized the transmission didn't want to shift as smoothly and began to feel loose and "clunky". After some more miles the car shifts into 1st and second fine but doesn't want to find 3rd. It is really difficult to find, almost impossible to transition into from 2nd. This seems to have come out of nowhere. There seems to be more play in the shifter when its in gear also. The trans was rebuilt many miles ago and the car only has around 100K on it. Any ideas |

Yes and the shifter bushing also. Hopefully that's all it is.

Agree with others...sounds like some of your shifter bushings had worn out.
Here is an article that explains which bushings need to be checked and how to replace: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/101_Projects_Porsche_911/37-Shifting_Improvements/37-Shifting_Improvements.htm

Still here
|
Open up the cover plate and check if any of the nuts and screw are loose.
