3.6 conversion idle when warm question.thoughts
Hi guys I have a 1982 sc I did a 3.6 conversion about 20 years ago cars been sitting for years I do start it a few times a years. It was a daddy daughter project when my daughter was 13. Anyways gonna get it going to drive as much as we can. it starts and idles but after warming up it dies and have to keep it reved. its almost like a oxygen sensor. I have been reading about the icv idle control valve?. Anyone have this problem on a 3.6 conversion. It might be time to figure out a obd port. Thanks, I really appreciate all of you. Kevin Stewart

Have you cycled through some fresh fuel during the 20 years? Cleaning the ISV valve is easy and can't hurt so I would try it. Check for any obvious vacuum leaks. If your fuel is relatively fresh I would then move on to checking fuel pressure.
Another easy thing to try but maybe a long shot is to reset your DME. Disconnect your battery for 10-15 minutes and restart.

There is a Pelican technical article on cleaning the ISV:
https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/pcar_com/993_idle_stabilizer_valve_cleanout.htm This was easier on my car with the plastic intake runners. Maybe a 30 minute job.

Part one video sucks but I think this is easy enough for anyone to do. This is a plastic manifold car 3.6 in a 82 sc. you will need one or two preferably Porsche clamps check to see if you have the pinch clamps or one that can be loosened with a screw driver if you have pinch type you have to pry it open or cut it with side cuts be they will need to be good side cuts. Some type of cleaner I used brake cleaner. Video will not load.
