Hugh,

That is the AFS switch that supplies ground contacts for the terminal #85 @ FP relay socket and @ alternator D-. To get a better understanding how this switch works, use a continuity tester @ terminal #85 (FP relay) and a good ground contact. Raise the sensor plate and you will have an open line.

Sorry MBAtarga, I should have been a little more precise with that question.

Thank you Tony, I'm in the process of putting things back together on the engine and was unsure of the placement of the various black connectors in that area so by knowing the ID I can refer to the wiring diagram and confirm the color codes on each connector.

If there is a "next time" I'll be sure to identify each connector as I remove it.

Wire color...........

Hugh,

Just make sure that the plug that goes to the AFS connector has 2 brown wires. The standard color for the plug is aqua blue. This particular plug for the AFS is the only plug in the engine harness that has 2 brown wires (no power source). Due to its proximity to CSV and AAR plugs people inadvertently mixed them up.

Thank you Tony, I got it all sorted.
I have one more question. There is a long wire with a female spade connector that is either bluish or greenish that I don't remember where it plugs into.
Can you help?
Thx

Hugh,

Could you post a picture of the wire in question? Thanks.

I think I found out where it belongs. It's a blu/wht wire and goes to the front of engine to the oil temp. switch.
Thx
