RIP Chris Bennet

It is a sad day, we lost one of the good guys to the Porsche gods. Chris helped 1000s of Porsche owners over the decades. Heck, I met him here in this thread Ok, now I need professional help - yours!

I'll miss the great times, conversation, road trips, mountain biking and ski trips and general Tom foolery. RIP my dear friend.

Very sad news. Chris was one of the original guys on this forum back when it was just a handful of us. I met him in person once at his house close to 20 years ago now. Chris was super smart, one of those guys who combined academic training in engineering with lots of hands-on experience as an enthusiast and DIY'er. He was always generous with his knowledge and eager to help those of us (like me) who didn't have his skills. RIP. May his memory be a blessing.

I never directly communicated with him but do of course remember the name from his many excellent posts and contributions to the forum. Sad news.

RIP, Chris.

Chris was a dear friend... even though I had not seen him in years I had the chance to talk with him last year and it was like we had never been apart. We met on the PFans mailing list for those of you who are old enough to remember that POS! He helped me in so many ways with my 911, but even more as just a good guy to bounce stuff off of.

He was always helping people. If I was so say what signature action was his it was that. Always ready to lend a hand. Amazing person.

And his dry wit... you'd just be chatting away and he'd let off this 1 liner zinger out of no where and you'd just laugh your ass off.

Porsches were his passion for sure. He created a Messin' with 911s unofficial group. We'd get together and work on someone's car that needed something doing. I was the benefactor of that for sure because every time we got together I learned how to do things on my own 911. He helped me rebuild my transmission twice... while always cleaning parts with MEK over the roses... I think he was trying to kill that bush, but it never died.

Here is the original Messin' crew (Left to right: Mike Wildt, Mark Hald, Chris Bennet, and my self)

Our community has lost an icon... I have lost a friend... Peace be with you my friend.

Everyone who knew Chris, and that is a lot of people, was a better person for his friendship. You got to see the world through the eyes of how the world should be: pure joy, kindness, generosity, understanding and optimism with no excuses or compromises. Chris was unshakably true to his values and ideals.

And that changed you.

It was an honor to be a part of his life for over 20 years, to always want to be more like him, to cherish his friendship, and now the memories of one of the greatest men we all have ever known. Good bye my friend.

A few pics from the last couple of years.

Hi Michael, It has been a long time. Chris will be sorely missed. I am just happy that we all got to know him and each other through him. What a fun, wild, crazy ride.

Chris was a true Gem. Exchanged many thoughts with him over the years.

There is another thread in OT, perhaps a MOD can merge them....
