Carrera tail screens with different orientation?

I have been looking closely at 84 through 89 cars with factory carrera tails that seem really original. Og paint etc. I have noticed that the screens on the left (drivers side) of the carrera tails have their teeny 1/8th” x 1/16th” rectangular slots oriented horizontally… while the right side screen of the tail has these rectangular slots oriented vertically. I’ve seen three all original cars this way now. Can folks with original carrera tail cars chime in about this. I can’t imagine why these would not be symmetrical side to side…. And it is driving my obsessive compulsive tendencies nuts!

Thoughts?
