going to try 7's and 8's
well tonight I am going to try and fit 16" cups...7" and 8" under my skinny arzz car...I am sure the front will work, it's the back thats going to be tight.
Has anyone made 8's fit?

I had 8s on the rear of my '73 to move it around untill I had the Carerra flares installed. No rubbing, but I never really compressed the suspension either.
It now has 9.5s, with room for 10s. |

I don't know if this will help but way back when, I briefly ran 215/60x15 on +23.3mm o/s 7x15 Fuchs on the rear of my (pre-flare)'72. The intereference was in the paint several inches up the fender, it burned a () ~ 3" long in the paint on the fender.
OD for those tires was 25.2"x8.7" a 225/50x16 will be a tad shorter but also a tad wider. The net o/s of the rim will have a large influence on the result. The more + o/s the more room you will have. I would try before I bought anything.

man....it was close!
The 7's on front were no problem...just need some small spacers to correct the offset. The 8's would be tight!!! No way without some serious spacers...oil lines would get rubbed and rupture. As well as I would need to roll the fender wells and even then it would be touch and go. So I am going to work on saving up and getting the flares done and then the meats will fit! He is going to hold em for me, so it's time to start saving up the cash!

yep...they were the original equip on a 1994 968
Very good condition and I am going to work a deal with him...learned this from a mate in Ohio! Ha Ha

Just food for thought . . . . I saw a narrow body track car with 205/50 - 16s on the front and 225/45s on the rear mounted on 7" wheels. Lips were rolled but no burning ala Bill (and my fender as well).
